Of coarse you can tell your doc you dont agree with them if you think your right..or of coarse your free to look into it being something other than Thyroid..
I had a baby almost 2 years ago and was having many symptoms too. I got my hormones checked and found out I am estrogen dominent. I started on progesterone and I am feeeling so much better. My thyroid is still a little low, but it has really helped me so far. Have you had hormones checked?
If your son is only one it could very well be hormonal, have the blood work done on the hormones and see if anything is out of wack there. I must say with my problems the doc said the exact same thing as yours, your hormone probs are not related its coincidental, i did not believe him at all and when my levels sorted out so did my hormones, but if they change so do my hormones...Who knows:)
I know you don't like to hear this, but you should have your FT3 tested to make sure it's high enough, because your symptoms really do sound hypo and with the high TSH, I can't help but wonder, even though your FT4 is high in the range. You may be having a conversion issue and need a T3 med added.
That said, there are other hormones that can cause issues. Have you had your estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, etc checked? Or adrenals?
Symptoms of various conditions can overlap and more than one thing can go haywire at the same time; therefore, it rarely works to blame just one condition for everything.
You are right, I'll tell my endocrinologist that my TSH is too high and that is the sole reason for my symptoms and tell her that i disagree with what she says and that she needs to fix it otherwise i'll just sit and have symptoms OR i can always find another doctor wait 3 months to be seen, have them tell me the same exact thing and then find another doctor wait 3 months to be seen, have them tell me the same exact thing.. OR i can post my concerns and my ideas to possibly "brainstorm" with other hypothyroid sufferers and get responses like this:
"you should do a little more research on Hashi's.. That is about as much help as my doctors have been..
because boy i sure haven't spent quite enough of my days for the past almost 4 years learning and researching about a condition that greatly affects the quality of my life....
I'm sure i'll feel better some day and i'll figure out why and i'll find a doctor to help me... thanks tho...
Well, one thing I have learned through all this...HORMONES are contolled by the THYROID, so if your Hormones are out of whak...something is causing it...aka THYROID...you should probably rethink the TSH level...even though your fT4 is normal, your TSH is slightly high, which is where I am right now, and I KNOW I feel allout of sorts...you should do a little more research on Hashi's....
Thanks for your response:
I found this symptom list for hormonal imbalance online here; http://www.healthy-communications.com/symptoms_of_hormonal_imbalance.htm
I seem to fit just about all the symptoms..
I do have Hashimoto's and was diagnosed almost 4 years ago. I"m on 118.5mcg of synthroid.
I just know my hormones are out of whack... I've dealt with hypothyroid symptoms for awhile now and some of these symptoms are different now then what i experienced before...
I am sorry to say this but I really think that all of your symptoms are thyroid related. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have your antibodies checked because if your antibodies are high they could be causing these symptoms even though your hormone levels are ok. The only symptom I didn't have is the sex drive during ovulation - mine was low all the time and I have Hashimoto's. Hope this was of any help. Good luck
