How do some of you go back to work in a week? Geez, rough night last night

bcz I sneezed a few times and geez gosh did that hurt and it set the stage for alot of pain last night .. couldn't get comfortable and I ended up in an easy chair 1/2 reclined.  I am still on extra strength Tylenol round the clock .. it feels like a raw, cut with stitches (ah doy .. that is what it is LOL) and it hurts and goes into my gland and up/down my neck with movement .. coughing doesn't help things either.

Just venting,
Cheryl

I hope things are getting better for you - not a good sign for me reading this I have 7 days after surgery before I have to return to work :-) My thoughts are with you to get better.

My surgeon told me I could put ice on the incision site *after* the steri strips came off and she cleared it.  That would also imply any drains coming out, stitches being removed, etc. depending on your surgeon's method.

Ask your surgeon's office but the ice really helped with the swelling for me.

Oh, I highly recommend Aloe Vera gel on the incision after the surgeon clears it too - you don't want it to dry out and crack.

I tell you I have not had to sneeze but to cough is the worse.  I had my surgery last thursday (1/11) and my throat feels like a big frog is there.  hahaha  My incision site feels werd.  Almost like numb above it and normal below it.  Can we put ice or anything cold one the area like we can with other surgeries? Like my knee scope I was told to do this but with this surgery nothing was mentioned??e

Cheryl,

Having spent six days in the hospital and not doing everday stuff probably helped me.  No house to clean, no food to cook, did nothing but walk the hospital halls, and watch TV.  It's been a month since my surgery, and I still haven't gone back to exercising at Curves.  Now that I've been off my meds for 11 days, starting to feel more tired.  So I will probably not plan to go back to exercise until after RAI process.  I remember those first few days after surgery being amazed at some of the things you use your neck muscles for that you didn't noticed before surgery.  Just don't push your recuperation time.  Each day will get better!!!

LOL Cheryl! Sneezing hurts, I know. I never sneezed before surgery, but of course, right after surgery all bets were off. It seemed like the surgeon turned on the sneezing button while taking out the stupid thyroid! Awwwww, hang in there, it'll get better soon! Love Margaret.

I feel better knowing this is normal.  Also, the surgeon said part of my dizziness is from the anestesthia still!!!!!  Will take more time to get out of my system .. and they wanted to send me home at first ? YIKES LOL!

Hi Cheryl
I had my TT on dec 12th.Im going back to work next week.I could have gone back sooner but i didnt want to take any chances(i deliver for a major package co.)because i would be returning to a very physical work load.Im glad i waited though because im been able to work out and become fairly stabilized on my meds.I felt guilty about missing the busiest time of the year but after 15 years on the job im glad i took time for my health..Ha HA
Best of luck to you and your recovery.I know we will all be fine!
