Hyperthyroid and whey protein

I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroid since last april and it comes and go, I'm exercising and doing weight training, and I am supposed to drink 2 natural whey protein shake a day.  Does any body know if whey has a negative  effect on hyperthyroid????   I just don't know what else to do, what eat or not to eat.  It is very frustrating.  thanks

hi,
I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism couple of weeks ago and everything is new for me at this point. I feel like crap and really tired all day. I would appreciate if you could share more of your experiences and one of my question is Is it possible to reverse it and go back to non-hyper again or once you get it stays with you for the rest of your life? thank you!

Isn't whey a dairy product?  Dairy has iodine which causes more T3 conversion.  When I was hyper, I tried to be careful what I ate.  In December I ate chocolate cherries (red food coloring has iodine) and almonds with sea salt.  2 days later, you could have peeled me off the ceiling!

So my guess would be, listen to your body.  Write down what you're eating.  Try eliminating it for awhile to see if it makes a difference.

BTW, good job on the exercising!  I just couldn't.  My muscles were wasted and it made me run a low grade fever.  :(

I never heard of whey being something you should not take. I think you are fine.  I do not know of any specific diet to follow while hyperthyroid. I didn't follow one prior to RAI.

Hypos have a difficult time with diets and I know we need to be very strict in our choices.
