Do you find relief in using the SYnthroid too? I only take Armour at this time - so I can not compare using the two together.
Only a risky thought here - but worth speaking to your doctor. Would dropping the Armour and taking Synthroid w/ Cytomel be better for you? This is a T3 synthetic and may work better with the T4 Synthroid.
Talk to your doctor - I have not tried this. only a thought.
HAshi's is very hard in my opinion to regulate. I think the antibodies involved work at different levels that are unpredicable and meds introduced at even levels every day may benefit one day and and not the next.
I don't know if the more even balance of synthetic T3 and T4 would be best or not.
I wish there was a med that only counter acted the need when hormones levels changed. That I believe would be only in a perfect world.
I wish there was a medicine like that too!
I am so fortunate to have a doctor who is willing to try anything. Have already tried the Synthroid with Cytomel, and I had a bad reaction to the cytomel (made me extremely irritable, and I felt like I was crawling out of my skin). That was about 3 years ago....after that didn't work, she then switched me to Armour.
Do you know if the hashimotos will eventually "kill" my thyroid? How will I know when that happens? Seems I am tolerating increased dosages as the years go on. Wondering if I just need more of something, and should increase the Armour another 1/2 grain.
ill talk with her again. Her rule of thumb has basically been to keep increasing until symptoms go away. Not sure why I am feeling worse now after increasing to 3 1/2 grains almost 3 weeks ago. Ugh!
