Dosing Armour Thyroid

I have been on Armour for a couple of years now and still am having challenges with dosing, as I am in finding a Dr. that truly understands Armour.  I was taking 30 mg in morning 7am an hour prior to food, and taking 30 mg at 11 am hour before food.  I am extremely sensitive to the spikes (which don't bother me) and the crash (which is a problem).  Even with my dosing schedule, I begin functioning at a very low level around 5-6pm.  I experience mood swings, anger, impatience and a very intense feeling of fatigue which lasts the entire evening.  It ruins the last third of my day consistently.  I feel like I need to take this three times a day but fear of getting too much, or if I take too small of a dose each time, I won't get much of anything.  Tips anyone??

Always take on an empty stomach, wait an hour before eating and in the pm an hour before and an hour after, The T3 portion of the med does not bind with protein, but for the T4 portion, I just play it safe, but I have the freedom to decide when I eat or not, so it is easy for me. Good luck, FTB4

I've taken dessicated 3 times per day for a year so far 120mg/day, with good results. I split the 60's up.

1) 6:30 AM, 60mg on empty stomach, food 45 min after

2) 11:00 AM, 30mg , lunch at 12

3)  3:30 - 4:30 PM, 30mg

I use the Erfa brand and can take sublingually if I need to if I snacked to close to dosing. Erfa is the same potency taken either way. Armour since reformulation in '09 is not as potent taken sublingualy as swallowed.

Great info.  Your 9am dose; on empty stomach or after food?  4pm; food on stomach?  OR, is food intake irrelevant in your case.  It seemed when I "played" around with this stuff time/dose wise, it was very dependent upon what time I took it and when I last ate.  Any info is helpful at this point.  Thanks so much for your response...

Try taking the second dose later in the afternoon, your taking the second dose too soon, that would account for crashing in the early evening, I take the first 30 at 9am and the second 30 at 4pm. You just have to use trial and error with the second dose, just don't get too close to bedtime or it may keep you awake, or just take the morning dose, then see how long it lasts, then when you start to feel a little down, then you can estimate the time for the second. Good Luck FTB4
