Thanks for the response, and your journal story. Here's to you feeling better and having a great year!!!
My T3 in July was 108 their range 80-190, so not in top 2/3. T4 was 6.3 their range 4.5-12.0. These numbers are before starting synthroid.
The treatment for hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's is the same. The "looking ahead" procedure is little different, but I am talking about how the doctor thinks.
To be tested for Hashimoto's, you need a TPOab test and a TGab test.
It is possible to develop an infection in the thyroid gland. That is called thyroiditis. It will make your hormone levels fall, and then rise, and then normalize as the infection clears.
The antibiotics you took probably helped clear up the thyroiditis as well as the other infection you had.
Waiting a few months to be tested for Hashimoto's will not hurt you.
As for the aching muscles, you have not found a good level for your hormones yet. A TSH of 3.57 indicates mild hypothyroidism. You need to get your TSH closer to 1.0 or 1.5.
Most importantly, you need to insist on a Free T3 test and see what the result is.
TSH levels are driven by your Free T4, mostly. You can have plenty of Free T4, but your Free T3 can still be low. Your Free T3 result should be about two thirds up the scale that the lab uses for their test range.
