Is this normal for people with Hypothyroidism?

Hey y'all!
I am 19 and was just told that I have Hypothyroidism a few months ago. Im SO glad they caught it because my husband and I are planning on having our first baby in a few years and if they hadn't found out, my baby could have been disformed! And all I ever wanted were babies!! But my question is, does Synthroid take a long time to work fully? I have been on it for about four months now. I am on the second lowest dosage of it and I just got my blood work results and I'm back in the normal ranges for TSH and all that. I gained 20 lbs before I knew I had it and I was sleeping ANYTIME I wasn't at work. It was so bad! I had NO energy and couldn't keep my eyes open and I SERIOUSLY thought it was because I'd just turned 19 and was getting old or something! Now I feel MUCH better, but I still get REALLY tired most days. I also take Adderall for ADD and that used to keep me awake allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll day with no problem. Now Im on the highest mg of Adderall and I still want to sleep right when I get home. But all my tests are good! ANY suggestions to why this might be happening would be GREAT!! Thank you so much!!

Don't worry about your children. Keep an eye on the TSH, make sure you get it to between 0.5 and 2.0. When you become pregnant, you will prob need more meds. The important thing is getting this under control now, as you are doing.
What were your levels to begin with? And now? Are you on 50mcg?
Relax, follow up, and it will be ok.

I hope you understand what AR-10 just said.  Doctor said your tests are in the normal range is not good enough. you need fine tune your test numbers by adjusting the amount of Synthriod and get to the optimal point so your body will feel 100% great.. good luck..

Because you are back in normal ranges, not back to YOUR NORMAL RANGE.

You've only begun, my dear, regardless how pleased the doctor is. When your TSH is where your body NEEDS it, you will feel even better.

That "normal range" of TSH is a large spread based on averages. You need to be within 0.5 of what your body wants, not 2.0 away from it.

Does that make sense?
