It is suggested that a starting point of 1 or 2, or any where in between. Most hypos will feel better at the hypo end of Labs reference range because that is where their body is use to function at. Where as, hypers feel better on the hyper end because that is where their body is use to functioning at. Just because someone said suggest a certain TSH level (.5-1) or said that they feel good at that level, doesn't necessarily mean you will or anyone else will. Levels are an individual issue. We are not all alike, so the level to where you feel your best at (and not someone else's) is acceptable for you, as long as its in Labs reference range. This is a trial and error situation and something that you and your doctor would need to work at.
Feeling better is not a 100% guarantee, even in a healthy life.

Is it really possible that I can feel hardly no improvement at my current levels (tsh 3.5) and possibly feel tons better at a tsh of around .5-1???? I guess my fear is not feeling better once I reach that point.
Wish I could help you but I've never tried Cytomel and neither have any of my family members. Sorry. I know there are TONS of people on here who can help you though.
are either of you on cytomel???? The dr. offered it on top of my 125mcg of syn. but I'm a little worried about going over board. He said even if I stay only on the synthroid, that my TSH is still going to drop over the next couple of weeks. He said I was welcome to try the additional t3 for a few weeks if I wanted to. He wrote the script for 25mcg. Any opinions????
I have never taken it due to having MVP, and, I don't have a conversion problem.
But what I have read and understand is, split the pill and take it several time throughout the day. T-3 has a short shelf life, meaning it only last approx 4 hours in the body. When you first take it, it will give you a little boost then when the approx 4 hours are up it will make you crash hard. By splitting the pill and taking it every 4 hours you will have a constant supply/dose in your body evening out its effects and avoid them.
You can try cytomel and if you start to feel bad you can always quit, with the doctors approval and knowledge of course. Also T-3 needs blood test done sooner than synthroid, like 4 weeks instead of the 6/8 weeks
like T-4.
There is no scientific studies that prove that T-3 makes a person feel any better than when taking T-4 alone. In fact the studies reflect the opposite, that is, that people do much better taking T-4 only. However users of T-3 will say it made them feel better, while there are others say it made them feel worse. I guess its a matter of trial and error. ;)
Good luck trying it.

It's possible.
It took me 3 weeks to go from a TSH of 2.1 to 75.9 then it took me 5 weeks to get back to to .17 then 2 more weeks to get to 0.06.
It's a roller coaster, a fast, unpredictable rollercoaster. Keep a close eye on it.
Could be. We all don't get the same dose of RAI, nor will our thyroid react to RAI the same, nor our body's. It really is an individual situation. I think two weeks after starting meds for test is too soon. Its normally 6 to 8 weeks and a maximum of 12 , unless on some form of T-3, then its 2 to 4 weeks.
Once you/doctor get to the level to where you feel your best, its going to take time for the meds to do their job and even more time for the body to heal. Then don't expect a 100% nor a 100% 100% of the time. But like I mentioned, we are not all alike and will heal at different time intervals and there is no time lines or formula for this.
Just keep hanging in there, get test done regulary and adjust meds accordingly.
