Mine lasted about 5 weeks...it tasted like a metallic feeling...horrible.
It does go away and your taste buds do come back :o)
Just be patient and drink plenty of water.
I also lost my taste and smell after RAI (105mCi). This is terrible! How log does it take to at least be able to taste food!
My tongue peeled when I had RAI (100mCi), I lost my taste for about a month, it comes back slowly, so hand in there.
This is a very hard thing to go through. I have had it back now for months - but it is certainly not what it was - before RAI
I had RAI 6 days ago and still have loss of taste and metallic taste in the mouth. Reading these stories really helps out, knowing you're not alone and you're not crazy.
I just had 100 mc RAI last Monday, February 10 for pap cancer. Six days later, I'm beginning to experience dry mouth and a metallic taste. I'm glad to know it's temporary.
I still have trouble in taste and smell.
But I smoke - so that could be my situation in combo with RAI ablation
I had RAI and had the metallic taste in the mouth before and after RAI.
in my case it was from being Hyper.
It does go away...believe me.
I am now 7 months post RAI and doing great.
Good Luck
I lost my taste for about a month but the metallic taste lasted longer. It eventually went away. My dose was 200mci.
Trish
I had terrible metallic taste in mouth for a couple of weeks. It should go away eventually. for about a month or so afterwords, it would occasionally come back, but now mine is completely gone, and I had 153mCi
Mine lasted about 3 weeks. Hang in there, it goes away. I had 100mCi.
