This is a personal question, but do you take lots of baths? I can't hardly take them and when I do I can't put hardly anything in the water. NO bubble bath whatsoever. No soap, bath gel, shaving cream, etc. About all I can use is plain bath salts, no perfumes, baby oil, and Vaseline bath crystals.
Also any topical birth controls give me UTI's. Fun, huh?
When I was a baby and toddler my mom gave me bubble baths every day and unknowingly damaged my bladder. Had my first bladder infection at 2. Now I have to be extremely careful with anything I do. About once a year I take a Jacuzzi at my mom's with bubble bath, but I have to make sure I'm taking stuff for it before hand and then after. Lots of juice or such.
Not fun, but doable.
Thanks on the juice drinks .. I am allowed all I want on the acidic type juices like lemonade as example ... but they cause reflux (boo hoo again) .. however, short term wouldn't hurt to try right!
I actually have on hand some prescrip meds for when it gets bad (spasm, pain) but I went onto their website and saw Cranberry AZO ..... I will ask my uro when I see him .. bcz we were speaking of cranberry vs. lowdose antibiotic therapy if I keep getting these UTI's .. they avg. ev. 6 mos w/o any specific trigger ....

What about the AZO for a bladder infection? Never tried it, but love the AZO for yeast. Works wonders! Just another idea. I usually drink grapefruit juice for my UTI. Something really high in Vitamin C, orange juice or apple juice are, too.
Hey Everyone. Thanks so much for the replies!
THX so much for you advice and post but boo hoo on the cranberries as my Uro feels they may produce more stones!!!!! Something to do with the oxalates in them I think. Did you know how these berries work ??? They create a slippery surface so the bacteria does not stick as readily to the UTI and, thus, it can go away or never start in the first place?! Yes, mine is ev. 6 mos or so from a stone deep in the medullary of the kidney ..too small to zap but enough to cause problems. All I got from this one was some gravel and a gallbladder attack, too which is fully gone.
I guess the culture revealed which antibiotic to take as the colony count was >100,000 .... ??
Yes, same one ... I feel fullness and having to go often again .. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr The last one was pretty asymptomatic except for triggering the gallbladder and abdominal pain which was weird for UTI as it presented .. the microhematuria was moderate and that was surprising bcz blood was gone for about a year now. grrrr again!
If I need to go on antibiotic again I will ask about Bactrim. That is a good one.
I'm taking Acidophollis and that does a great job preventing yeast infections.

Is this for the same UTI? Have you used Bactrim? It's the only thing that works for me, and it's specifically made for UTI's. And of course I'm sure you know that cranberry pills taken daily can keep it under control, unless of course it's all from the stones, I assume.
Am sure you already know all that, but just thought maybe I could try and be helpful. :-/
Check out this random website that came up when I did a search for you on the spelling of the drug you listed ... sounds like your symptoms to a T!

I am allergic to Macrobid (I think the brand name or derviative of the Nitro med you are on). I had tingling of extremiteis and EXTREME DRUNK STOOPER feeling 24hrs later .. I saw spots in front of my eyes (yellow) and that was with one pill ... they told me I was allergic and never take it again!
Just 2 weeks ago I posted about Levaquin and Synthroid ......... I really felt anxiety and just not so great with the combo and all is fine now that Lev is done with ???? I was getting chills!
So I don't have an answer but may be the Macrobid ???? Very few are allergic but when we are watch out!
I go back tomorrow for urine culture and I think it is back ........ grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Will ask for Cipro this go around maybe???

I went on Armour to try it once, and was totally allergic to it, just like when they first
used pig insulin before making recombinant.
I had to bail on that experiment, I felt horrible, not hypo, just awful, like really sick.
With fillers and binders, one can never tell, while I think it's not an extremely common
effect, nothing surprises me that anyone would react.
frootbar.
Switching brand of thyroid meds can effect you especially the switch from generic to regular but more so going from SYnthroid to generic.
If you are having problems - definately call your doctor. Mostly likely your physician will warrent the name brand SYnthroid on your RX if you have issues with others.
Down fall could be insurance hassles though
