Weight Gain

I am sure I am going to get a lot of flack for this comment but here goes....I was off my Levoxyl for about 8 months and recently went back on it after TSH results were 26.233.I gained alot of weight but I do not attribute most of it to simply being hypothyroid.I was so tired that I simply lacked the energy to move about, much less excercise.Being hypothyroid did make it more difficult to lose weight but the amount of weight I gained was from lifestyle. So,Can it be said my weight gain is not all thyroid related?I was able to do more than I did but I just eased into the lazier lifestyle because I didn't feel well.It became habit so that when I did feel ok,I still expended minimal energy. Also, what's better to do when you're home watching televison? EAT! This hypothyroidism is a catch 22 it seems! This is only my opinion but I read so much about people saying they gained 50-75-100 pounds due to their thyroid.I am a good 60 pounds heavier but I can say that my lifestyle became such a habit for me that even now that I feel a bit better,I still want to vegitate. Is there anyone out there who agrees with me?

Trying to distinguish between hypo t and lifestyle effects would be a very difficult task; however, with a TSH that high, you could certainly expect to have no energy to do anything but sit around ( and gain weight ).  JMHO  You also say that you feel a bit better.  Does that mean that your TSH, T4 and T3 are now at acceptable levels?   Don't just let your Dr. tell you that your thyroid results are " normal ".  Find out the actual results and compare to the normal ranges.
