So frustrated with my doc; what the heck do I do now?

I am in my third trimester of pregnancy, and just got labwork back. My doctor wants me to LOWER my meds from 118 Synthroid and 120 mg NP Thyroid (desiccated) to just the Synthroid and only 60 mg NP.

I have no functioning thyroid, btw.

These were my labs:

FT3 3.0 (2.0-4.4)
FT4 1.01 (.82-1.77)
TSH <.006

He has NO idea I raised the dose to 2.25 NP after my last set of labs (late May) which showed

FT3 2.9 (2.0-4.4)
FT4 1.01 (.82-1.77)
TSH <.006

Guess that extra quarter grain didn't do much, did it?

What is he thinking, really? I am so exasperated with him! He's going to cause me to fall off the range altogether!

I refuse to lower my dose and I need some way to convince him so I have enough meds for the rest of the pregnancy.

Barb, he is not a gyno. He's supposedly a thyroid doc, though not an endo, either. He's another failure of a doc who was highly recommended in the top docs list and wow. What a flop. :(

Is this an endo or a gyno?  He's, obviously, reacting to the TSH and nothing else.  You might try pointing out that TSH neither causes, nor alleviates symptoms and that your baby needs adequate thyroid hormones.

You might have to think about a different doctor, though that would be tough, this late in a pregnancy.
