I asked my son's Pediatrician at his well check if I could have him tested and get a baseline level of his TSH as well as a CBC and a basic metabolic panel.
He was anemic when he was 1 and was never followed up with repeat testing.
My endo suggested I get these tests as well. The ped said it was "not indicated" even with my personal history of Hashi's, Alopecia Areata and mild Vitiligo as well as a family history of Hashi's- my mom and sister.
So I wrote to the pediatric endo on this site and this is her response:

I know a few of us have expressed concern over our children's chances of having hypothyroidism and I though this doctor's response was helpful.

P.S. My daughter, who will be 10 soon, is not even ON the growth chart, so I may well take them both to my endo and have them worked up. It may be nothing, but better safe than sorry. These issues need to be adressed by puberty or before because the growth plates in the end of the bones will fuse and then there will be no hope of further growth.
