TSH VALUES VERY HIGH AND TTC

HELLO all,
my FREE T3 Vlue is 3.59 and FREE T4 VALUE IS 16.14 These values are in normal range but i am having a TSH value of 10.75 WHICH IS VERY HIGH i am taking 100mcg of thyroxine everyday.do i have to increase or decrease tyhe disage for regulatinf my TSH VALUE rightly i am TTC will i have any problems TTC coz of my TSHJ value being so high
how long will ity take FR MY VALUES TO COME NORMAL PLZ HELP.

Hi Raj,

Congratulations on the positive test.

With your levels you need an immediate increase in thyroid meds.

I personally think you probably need to increase by 25 - 50 mcg/day immediately to bring your TSH down and the FTs up.  If you can't see your doctor immediately, do this in the meantime (this would be an extra 1/2 tablet per day).  It is better to have slightly too much than too little meds during the pregnancy and anyway your requirement for thyroid hormone will be increasing as the pregnancy progresses.

Yes you need to adjust meds, but you are already on meds so there is still hormone there.  TSH of 10 is high, but not dangerously so (also considering your other numbers are within the reference range, though lower than is optimal).

You won't necessarily have a miscarriage and as long as your levels get adjusted and monitored (see my earlier post above) all should be fine for your baby.

You do need to call your doctor and get in to see him/her and get advice immediately.  

Please be aware that I am a patient not a doctor and I am just expressing my personal opinion and experience (During my pregnancy we adjusted by 25 mcg to a maximum of 50 mcg of T4 per day per adjustment, with adjustments nearly every month for the first 6 months of the pregnancy.  At 1 point my FT4 was at the bottom of the range and that is when we adjusted by 50 mcg.)

Again any advise you take is at your own discretion and you really need to get in touch with your doctor asap and be guided appropriately.

but my values r not normal
plz advice me wt should i do
will this have an illeffect on my little form formed

Yes the TSH is high. I will however say the the FT4 is a bit high for me too. I am only basing my thoughts on my personal labs though

From the lab results, I'm sure that Stella meant to say that TSH was very high, not FT4.  She's a very busy lady, trying to take care of all of us and herself and family as well.  Probably trying to type with one hand while eating breakfast with the other.   LOL

I agree - the Free T3 is very low and the Free T4 is very high. These are not good labs.

Hi.

when TTC it is very important htat your thryoid is well regulated. So that you have a healthy baby.  Your TSH target should be around 1.0 and your FT3 and FT4 should be in the upper half of the reference range.

By this guideline all your levels are all too low.  You need an increase in meds before you get pregnant.  It would be appropriate to increase by 25 mcg and  then to test in 4 - 6 weeks.

Then if your levels are still not on target, you should have another increase.

Of course you should not be acting just on what we say here - we are just patients.  But you should be working with your doctor.

The above targets are also those during pregnancy.  When you get pregnant you should be testing your levels monthly and adjusting accordingly.  When pregnant TSH is not a very accurate indicator of levels and your levels should be adjusted based on FT3 and FT4 alone.   it is normal to have to increase thyroid meds by 20 - 40 % during pregnancy.  But of course you must be guided by your results nad your doctor.

Since labs use different reference ranges, please post the ranges for your FT3 and FT4 results.  We need to see where your results fall within the reference ranges.  The ranges are so broad that just being within the range may not be adequate to relieve symptoms.
