TSH GOING UP ???

Just got my 2nd 6 week blood test results from tuesday.I started out on 125 mcg of levothyroxine after surgery and at my 1st 6 week testing my TSH was 4.1 so they bumped me to 137 mcg.Now my TSH is 7.1 which explains why i have been feeling a bit sluggish lately. Is it normal for your TSH to go up or is this just the wonderful process of finding your right dosage over the course of a year?..they gave me a new dosage of 162mcg so hopefully ill get a little energy back...anyway just wondering..

My 1st labwork post op showed my TSH at 39- my doctor only waited 4 weeks after that and my 2nd lab showed tsh was down to 10. I went from 100mcg of levothyroxine to 137 mcg. of levoxyl (changed brands because doc didn't want generic) and now I am on 150mcg of levoxyl and will get my labs drawn again on the 28th.
I agree with cheryl by saying the thyroid dumps everything post-op.

Best wishes for a low tsh reading =)) sooner rather than later.

I wish I could help ya on this one.  I have not had my 1st blood test yet and will have this drawn in 2 weeks..  I am still sluggish especially when running then after that I am bushed the whole day and the next.

I will let you know my first blood test then!

Good Luck Roman!

Cheers,
Scott

Same thing happened to me but my numbers were lower all around.  Seems there were stores after surgery and then ker plunk .. the other half isn't working right.  So my 2nd bloodtest #'s actually went up even on the Synthroid which the Endo said isn't uncommon but it plays havoc on us, the patient doesn't it!!!
