Was your TT because of cancer? The number you mention is for cancer suppression (<.1) and may not be the same for people who have not had cancer.
Your post was typical of so many people who can't seem to find help from their doctors. So much so that I quoted you in a post I have going with Dr. Lupo, where we have been discussing our somewhat differing views on the medical community and the new vs. old TSH range , etc. I think you will find it interesting.
Also, I suggest you look up Dr Broda Barnes' basal temperature test as an indicator of low metabolism/low thyroid. I think you'll want to check your BBT. If so please post results so that all of us here can gain more knowledge that we can use to try to get our doctors to treat our symptoms and not just our TSH results.
I'm with you!! I just can't understand why he wouldn't run the tests I asked for. It wasn't like he was paying for it. I just think he didn't like the things I had to say and what I have learned here. He said you can't always believe everything you read on the internet. This is the first doctor that I went to that didn't even run the T3 or T4. What's up with that? Then I wanted him to do the adrenal testing. NOPE! I really have tried to help myself and I don't know what else to do. Where is everyone else's TSH levels at? I just don't understand why mine has gone up??? I know I won't be going back to that idiot. He is definitely a textbook and by number JERK!!!
While you are waiting to find a knowledgeable doc on thyroid issues, keep proactive, and use everything you have learned to treat yourself. Sometimes we have to do that, and we can, if we have to. Heck, they don't always get it right, so why should we expect any more of ourselves.
Use all that you have learned here and in your other study, and bite the bullet. I know what you exactly what you mean, about finding a good endo, and I have an appt with a new one this Tuesday.
I have seen several drs and have not really had any that were that knowledgeable. I have decided to treat myself, if this one is not able to.
If you have a regular GP to write your RX, then take all you have learned and apply it to dosage. YOu know your body and how you feel better than any dr. Learn all you can about thyroid health and how it affects your body.
It is frustrating, So much so that I want to just dig a hole and jump in, but then, how will that affect the endos and other drs I have been trying to get to help me? They will keep right on going.
I don't know about you, but I have had about enough of these drs not really wanting to help me get relief, and not wanting to listen, but just come in, make a decision based on what they THINK they know about me and get their money.
I am ready to get my life back!! I am sure you are too!! Lets take it back, not wait on some dr to give it back to us!! Are you with me??
Find another endo.....do not waste another visit with that idiot. He definately doesn't understand thyroids. How ignorant!
Keep asking around until you find a good one. I finally found mine through my daughters pediatrician who referred an awesome one! Don't give up!
That is the sad thing...where I live you have to travel at least an hour to get to anyone and when you do you get these results!!!! I can't believe he didn't even do the T3 and T4. That blew my mind and I asked him to. He said they didn't matter. I guess I will go back to my regular doctor and see what she says. I don't think that she knows alot about the thyroid but she MAY be willing to try some different things. It sure is a long road!! Thanks Utah!!
Fine another endo. Sorry, but it's a long haul. Find one who specializes in thyroids and thyroid cancer.
I'm sorry - there are so many bad ones out there. There are a lot of good ENTs that treat thyroids too. Just a thought.
Yeah, your TSH needs to be lower and there *are* doctors out there who will listen and who will treat your body's needs - not just your labs.
Hang in there!!!
