Talking to much

Well its been 2 weeks today since my surgery. I still am swollen and taking my steroids and antibiotics. The only complaint that I have is that when I talk to much (never) and or sing, my throat feels like it swells up, is that possible. I know the choking feeling she said could take MONTHS to subside, (torture for someone with anxiety issues). Oh and the other things was, she wants to wait 4 weeks to ck my levels, should I have them done sooner.. I had a right lobectomy that was Papillary Carcinoma.

Hi there, I had a PT earlier this year and it took me 2 weeks to get over the worst of the pain in the insicion area and about 3 weeks to feel reasonably well. My voice felt just 'tired' in my throat if that makes sense - I am a real talker too so it was weird to feel my voice 'aching'.  I think everyone heals at varying rates and people here report different feelings and respnses to surgery.  Some have very little pain in the area that has been worked on - some a lot.  If you still feel very uncomfortable as the next week goes on it might be an idea to get checked - do you have a follow up booked with the surgeon?

I had to wait 6 weeks to get my levels checked post op but actually saw my doc and the surgeon before that just to get checked.

Hope you feel better soon
Kind regards

Two weeks is about when the tissue starts regenerating and the scar tissue forming.  Ice is really (REALLY) good for the incision.  Don't stress your vocal chords too much - they are in shock right now too.

It takes 6-8 weeks for thyroid levels to stabilize so waiting 4 weeks is a good timeline.  Sorry for all you are going through but this will get better - soon!

Hang in there!
