Tes results. . .what do you think?

by lilypad300, Sep 19, 2008 09:29AM
I'm 7 weeks post TT (Graves non-cancer)

I was on synthroid .175 for about a month. . .had an anxiety attack, endo lowered dosage to .137 have been on that dose for 2 weeks, had new blood work. . .here are the results:

TSH  0.046        range: 0.450---4.5
T4, Free 1.14     range 0.61-----1.76

I want to go up to .150 because I feel tired in the late afternoon, I get tingly feelings in my hands and feet at times, my hair is still falling out not to mention that my weight hasn't budged despite watching what I eat .

The doctor didn't have a problem with me going up to a higher dosage. . .but my numbers are all in range, TSH actually out of range. . .what are your opinions?

thanks!

I think everyone is different in how they react to the dosage. I would think you TSH is low and you actually need to lower your dosage, but I am not a doctor.

I myself asked to be lowered from 125 mcg Synthroid to 100 mcg just yesterday, because i felt like i did when i had graves back in 1994 (TT as well, no cancer). Mine was the weight loss, bone/muscle pain, insomnia, and night sweats, that got me thinking maybe I am being over medicated. I am hoping this new level will work.

My TSH level was .5 last month, before that TSH was 2.19.

But like i said, everyone is different.

I had a TT done in 1994 for graves/hyperthyroidism, my dosage was 200 mcg for 12 years and my TSH level was okay, i felt great. Then for some reason I started getting symptoms again of being hyper, but mostly the bone/muscle pain. Ran blood work, found out i was being over medicated, so i became hyper. Doctor lowered my dosage to 175mcg, I was still hyper, lowered again to 150mcg, still the same, lowered it to 125 mcg. I was okay for about a year, but for some reason I feel hyper again. I know my TSH is within normal range with .3 being the lowest. (Mine is currently .5), but my body tells me different.

To me you are hyper. The lower your TSH is the hyper you become, at least that is what my doctor told me. I am surprised your doctor is increasing your dosage, i had to beg mine to lower it. After having hyperthyroidism/graves, i never want to feel that way again.

thanks. . .i'm a mess today.
i don't know why i left the doctor's office without having all of my questions answered.

maybe i'll finish out the box of .137 (which a wise person here recommended & was my initial plan) & then switch over.

hmmmm. . .

I can appreciate the confusion.  My first though is that everyone is different and you and your doctor need to work together to get you to your own happy place...and just a small tip...try writing down everything you want answered in a small notebook and keep it on you at all times...(small enough to fit in a handbag or small purse) that way you can also write down any questions that pop up instead of trying to remember...to be honest...it took me time to finally accept that mind wants to forget everything...the only way I survive sometimes is from notes...its not bothersome and has worked wonders for me...just an idea...

My TSH came back today at 10.36, so a little high...last test it was low...my body is all over the place.  My doctor has now put me on 275mcgs of Synthroid...that is a 75 increase daily...this is temporary until my appointment on the 3rd of October.

I hope that you once again find the right dosage for you and you start to feel better soon!
