the stimulation test was fine. but you might just have a little fatigue and need a little boost. You may not have a flat tire but may need a boost. See if one of your doctors would allow you and recommend hydrocortosine to help you a little bit. Its a steroid, but may help you get over this hump. I take a tiny bit in the morning and it made my nausea go away. also cut out the caffiene, make sure you are taking all the right supplements. Make sure your iron is in range etc. if you want more info on the adrenal support, PM me sidebar. bruce
Yeah, it's discouraging that I have to deal with this at all...LOL. I'm sure that's a common feeling though. I guess I really need to get my adrenals properly checked. How did the stimulation test go for you?
I know I'll be shot for saying this on here, but I take hydrocotosine tablets throughout the day. If I skip my morning dose I get nausea all day long. I can skip any other dose and make it through the day. But if I skip the morning dose, I'm toast all day.
It's very discouraging that you have been on levo for a year and still nauseas.
I've had them since I started taking the levothyroxine which was over a year ago. The nausea comes and goes and I have tried ginger tea. It doesn't seem to help. I have A LOT of GI problems (constipation, stomach aches, etc.) My cortisol level was low (3.1 and it was drawn at 11am so it's not an accurate reading) but I think I may have adrenal fatigue so I need to have an actual ACTH stimulation test done. I know that adrenal insufficiency can contribute to me feeling like crap. Have you had the ACTH stim test and if so did you experience any side effects?
Try Ginger for the nausea. How long have you had these symptoms?
Hello, I understand the frustration. I'm waiting to have my ACTH stimulation test done because I had a serum cortisol level of 3.1. Maybe my adrenals are fatigued and that would explain why I continually feel horrible.
Anyway, I feel like crap on my thyroid medication also. I'm very sensitive to it apparently. I have dizziness, nausea, constipation, palpitations, worse anxiety and phobias while taking it.
I feel like I'm going wackadoodlydo....Grrrr!!!!
I was told by my Endo that my dhea is low because of the cortisol I'm taking. The proper test is dhea sulfate not the dhea test.
My nausea is extreme. It's like motion sickness but much worse. Can any one relate to this?
Stella I had the acth done prior to the tsh being so high. I have not repeated the acth since. The DHEA is low, but i didnt think i needed to take any. What are you thinking a good course of treatment is? I am taking .50 tirosint right now, feel like a hot mess.
Where is the ACTH testing Bruce? Clinically there was an adrenal issue before and I don't see that here?
Thyroid balancing will be tough with the abnormal DHEA and Testosterone issues.
Did you get the saliva panel done?
I'm on .50 tirosint now day 9. I think I'm hyper but told this may pass?
sorry ferritin is 62.9 not 629
Here are my labs before starting thyroid
TSH 3RD GENERATION 20.13 (0.4-4.5)
T4 FREE 0.9 (0.8-1.8)
T3 FREE 3.4 (2.3-4.2)
other stuff
FSH 1.8 (1.6-8.0)
FERRITIN 62 9 (20-380)
Iron binding capacity 37 (20-50)
Iron Total 323 (250-425)
DHEA 67 (61-1636)
ANDROSTENEDIONE 45 (40-190)
Dr. wanted me to start on .50 levo, told her that i react very poorly to the thyroid. She told me to get something in me, even if its .25. I started on .25 for first day and then decided to bite the bullet and do .38. Im on .38 tirosint day 6. I take a .25 and a .13 pill at the same time.
Symptoms now are better in the morning, but horrible after 3 pm. Same story as before. Shaky, dizzy, ears blasting, unable to think, burning in stomache, palpatations, frustrated with everyone, might as well be sedated and put in bed at 3pm every day.
Also im taking hydrocortosine dosing it 10-10-7.5- 2.5
ALso, I got a massive cold the day i strted the thyroid, this happened the last time i tried it 6 months ago to. My ears got all full and clouded, next thing you know i had a full blown cold.
Your iron is good, don't worry.
Starting the Tirosint for only one day isn't the problem with feeling hypo. You have to remember that Hashimoto's (which you have!) can give you bad days....You will learn with time what the symptoms of Hashi's are compared to other things. Give the Tirosint a good try. I would KILL, ok, not literally, to have Tirosint here in Australia to try!
Hang in there Bruce and don't focus too much on symptoms and just enjoy being here in the present with us!
Cheers!
started tirosint yesterday, .25, i feel more hypo than before taking the meds.
What about the iron and adrenals? They seem low but in range.
Your sodium is on the low range but nothing too bad. Your cholesterol is wicked though! That usually goes with Hypothyroidism too. You do have Hashimoto's though, and that is the main reason you feel crap! You have poor thyroid function testing more than likely due to the Hashimoto's. Remember I am the same.
Everything else is perfect and spot on.
