2 MONTHS POST TT/ 2ND SET OF LABS

I had my endo appt yesterday and brought some issues up to my doc consistant with hypo symptoms and she was satisfied with my labs results compared to the first set that were taken in January w/no med's.

                                                                Ref
TSH 3rd Generation     13.76H             . 0.40 - 4.50
T4 Free                        0.9                      0.8- 1.8
T4 Total                        7.2                      4.5-12.5
T3 Uptake                     27                        22.35 percent
T4 Free Calc                 1.9                       1.4 - 3.8
Thyroid Peroxidase AB   <10                      <35
Thyroglobulin AB            <20                      <20

I am currently on 75mcg and started on 50mcg. Due to the anxiety and heart palps, my doc wants to work me back down to 50mcg once my labs are stable. Has anyone ever stayed on 50mcg and felt ok??? I know that i have a long road ahead of me and will take one day at a time.

The indicator was basically fast heartrate (no matter what time of day or night), speaking 'quickly', hot flushes, excessive bowel use, doing housework at midnight (god, I wish I felt like that on normal levels (hehehe), very anxious and graves rage (aggressive attitude).
Thats what made me cut down by 12.5mcg weekly.
Doesnt sound much but did the trick.

I am completely the opposite when Hypo....I am cold, slow pulse, freezing cold on a 30C day, sluggish bowels, lethargic etc.

What was the indicator for you that 75mcg was too high???

cant you take 62.5mcg? (1 & 1/4 of 50mcg tablet)

75mcg was too high for me so I now take 62.5mcg 4 times a week and 50mcg 3 times a week.

Thanks to both of you.

My first set of labs indicated that the TSH was 39.51 and honestly, i was feeling ok until i started taking the Levo and that was at" 4 weeks post surgery.

So, you are saying that i should ask my doc to test FT3....and that is the hormone that is suppose to convert to T4?????? I'm learning this from you guys and i get "dizzy" trying to remember what tests are important..LOL. She specifically said that my levels are much better than they were and she wants to keep me on 75mcg and then test again in april.......

I checked my lab slip that she gave me for april testing and i see that there are a set of labs included together and it doesn't have FT3 anywhere on there...is there a reason why that is??? Especially if it is important to test.....

Hmmm,

TSH is still high. FT4 is very low end of the range.

I am surprised that she would want to reduce your meds once your levels are stable.  Your levels would be stable when your meds are at the right level.

Also for most people post T/T 50 mcg is too low.

But yes, baby steps and increase slowly.....  The only tests really needed now would be TSH, FT3 and FT4.

Hi - its all baby steps so you can do well on small dosages and then move up slow.

There is still no Free T3 lab done and really the uptake T3 and TSH 3rd are very obsolete and outdated labs. They do nothing and are proven worthless with many medical articles.

TSH may not change much eliminating the 3rd gen testing - but its anybody's guess on if the anxiety and heart palps are from over - or under medicating. These symptoms are from with both hyper and hypo symptoms and the FT3 lab is the only test compared to FT4 that can tell exactly why this is happening.

Push - push - push for proper labs... then optimal thyroid levels w/ meds will come faster and recovery will be quicker.
