After RAI I-131 treatment

I had rai i-131 treatment on December 28.  Taking the pill wasn't so bad "yet".  I started feeling a sore throat, upper chest pain, neck pain and fast heart rate the second day.  I've tried various ways to sleep so that my neck/throat is not bunch together.  Do I have anything further to fear or is this about it.  I want the latter. I will go back to work on Friday.

Staying in isolation is hard, but I don't want to risk anyone coming in contact with me.

I took the advice to have lemon drops or sour candy.  What a help. thank you.

Have a great new year and thanks for the advice.... Terri

I  am not on thryroid replacement as of yet. I go back to the doctor January 23rd.  I was given a prescrip for atenolol for the palpitations.  I was having them prior to the I-131 treatment.  For now, this is all the medicine for the thyroid.  What is a thyroid storm.   I will look it up? However, your personal input  would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you......Terri

The chest pain and fast heart rate could be a "thyroid dump" of hormones.  Keep an eye on it to make sure you don't have palpitations and high blood pressure.  If it gets out of control or you start feeling faint or "out of it" have someone take you to the ER and tell them you have had I-131 treatment.  It could be early signs of thyroid storm.  Are you on your thyroid replacements right now?
