Hi!
My Dr. is an Endo and he is one of the best here. I finally spoke with him yesterday.
He and the radiologist examined my 3 ultrasounds I have taken from the beginning in Sept.07. The large nodule(whish is benign) has shrunk, meaning the Levo, is working.I
had a new nodule on 2nd Ultrasound and the 3rd is the same as the 2nd. The smaller nodules cannot be tested because of the size. He cannot tell me if they are cancerous or not because he cannot biopsy these. I have a sister that had breast cancer and a brother that had bladder cancer. He suggested, since I get so stressed about
the results of new test he does, that removal of the thyroid would be best. I would take the meds and be over with it. I am not sure this is the answer. I know what I have now, but I do not want to get worst. My thyroid is under active that is what causes the goiter and enlargement. The nodules I don't know. Now I will see my PCP and he is an Internal Specialist. I hope he could give me some insight. If I would know that the removal and the medication would work and I would feel Iike I am suppose to O.K. I am just yancy because I have had so many surgeries through the years.

Hypothryoidism and goiter? Sounds like Hashimoto's, which will cause nodules, goiter, etc. Has your endo ordered the TGab and TPOab antibody tests to determine Hashi?
You never said if you were on thyroid hormone, such as Synthroid, Levo, Armour?
If you think your endo isn't doing a good enough job treating and explaining things to you, then I suggest you find a new doctor. If you are in the states, this list has recommended thyroid docs. The key is to find an endo who primarily treats thyroid, NOT DIABETES! A good endo will take the time to explain thyroid disease.

In Sept'07 I have been dx with goiter, hypothyriodism, and multifaceted lg nodule with small ones too. I have had 3 ultrasounds at 3 different times. I also had a biopsy of the lg nodule which was benign. The 1st ultrasound showed the enlargement of the rt lobe and lg nodule on the lower lobe and isthismas with some small ones. The 2nd ultrasound showed some shrinkage of the lg nodule, but a new one that was not there before on the left side. The 3rd ultrasound was about 3-4wks ago and this one showed there is a new one. Blood is good ?????My Endo Dr. has to compare all ultrasounds with a Radiologist to find out exactly what is going on. I just get impatient with all this. I know I am not the only patient, but I think it should go a little faster than this.
Impatient and on my last nerve!

I don't know anything about your history, but if you are on thyroid hormone replacement, then shrinkage is common. If you have Hashimoto's Disease, then new nodules are expected.
