endocronolgist dont know anything

I feel that endocronolgist dont know anything either, I have hashimotos disease I had 9 thyroid tsh tests and all came back fine, I had every insult thrown at me including lazy fat over 40 loser, Now i went from going 12 miles a day on my bike  very in shape to very sick This disease is very misunderstood, I dont know why doctors dont know what is going on  I got on Mary Shomons website for thyroid, looked up a doctor that was recommended by patients who finally got someone to believe them, by the time i saw him i was almost hostpitalized for mytoma coma cause my blood pressure was so low, left depressed sick to my stomach and lost ended up with a hysterectomy that was caused for not treating my problem, this one doctor went outside the box and looked at everything not just a blood test, He said when your antibodies are high, your thyroixin is being used to fight the disease , so there is nothing left for your body to run with.  Also you have to take into acct what your adenal gland is doing, you  estrogen, and progesterone they all work as team, get on the mary shomon webiste and look up one of those doctors in your area. It changed my life

Doctors are like car mechanics. You can keep airing up a leaky tire to 32 psi or you can patch the hole even though many tire manufactures now say to patch a hole is all of a sudden a liability, so don't do it.

Doctor #1 (1997), and #2 (2006) said my TSH levels are good with synthroid so my symptoms must not be from Hoshis hypo. They also said that people who feel good on dessicated need a psychologist, and med schools say not to use it.  In 2007, I googled thyroid endlessly, and don't listen to those two.

Doc #3, (2008) Endo on About Thyroid.com list, better, was open to all hypo meds, but still used tsh as med roadblock.

Doc #4 (last month) said, "so those other docs just blew you off hu?" I treat symptoms not #'s, would you like to raise your meds sometime and see how it goes? Hole-in-the-wall MD office.

I met him by mistake. Wow.

I don't quite get the poll questions. I will say that I went undiagnosed with Hashimoto's for a long time because my TSH of 2.69/2.74 was 'normal' and so no further thyroid tests were ordered.

I have personally interviewed six endos in my town of San Antonio (the second highest diabetes mortality in the country) where most endos see diabetes patients all day long. Five of the six endos believe that TSH is primary in testing and treating thyroid disease.

That's scary.

I, too, found a wonderful endo off Mary Shomon's website. He is who treats me now, and I'm doing much better. He treats my symptoms and my frees, not my TSH.

Finding the right doctor is tough - we all know that. Is is a bad thing and all endos are not good? - No - some are terrific.

Mary does offer good information - We here at MedHelp have a alot of stuff here too. There is wonderful things to find out and one thing you should be in your post is

"Educating yourself as your advocant of your own health is priceless" You are the only one who knows when things aren;t right. No one is better at knowing that the person going through it.

Good luck.

I will say in my past health being bad - I did have a run in with one of those doctors - I was not happy at all. But I found another one that is terrific for me.
