No vitamin deficiencies, including B12 ;)
If you have peripheral neuropathies, insist on a Vitamin B12 test.. B12 deficiency will cause this and it can easily be treated with B12 shots, once monthly, maybe even sublingual supplementation, if caught soon enough...... I do shots weekly, because all my doctors thought I was "tired because I was depressed"; I tried to tell them that I was "depressed because I was tired", so I didn't get dx'd in time....... I do weekly B12 shots and it helps a lot, but have some permanent nerve damage.
That's fabulous news :) I started this morning, had TT on Wendsday. Wishing you well.
Unfortunately I only have my FT3 (I won't get my FT4 until my first follow up in 4 weeks). It was .88 (.82 - 1.77). I was just recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's (a couple of weeks ago) but I suspect having thyroid problems for about 8 years. My levels were "off" when I was pregnant 8 years ago but they chalked it up to pregnancy and never did anything with it.
My initial dose is 75 mcg. I started off taking 1/2 for the first week then went up to 75 mcg. I have my follow up in 4 weeks.
No other health problems that aren't thyroid related, I don't think. I have peripheral neuropathies that my wonderful endo said is "absolutely NOT" related to my hypo. (I know....I know...) However I really have a feeling that it is related. Or at least I hope it's related and that will slowly go away as well.
No other meds, besides my daily multi-vitamin. No vitamin deficiencies either when I had that checked last month.
I agree that it's not in your head and I'm thrilled to know that you are already feeling effects of the medication. The first thing I noticed when I got on med was that the bags under my eyes disappeared; that was about 2 weeks after starting med. Too bad it took so long for the other symptoms to go away....
I hope things keep getting better for you.
No, I doubt it's all in your head. As your levels rise, symptoms should start to drop off or, at least, improve. However, be aware that when starting meds there can be good days and bad days, so don't get discouraged if things are better every single day.
There is no "norm". How long it takes to feel better depends on a lot of things...how long we were hypo, how low our FT3 and FT4 levels were before starting meds, how close the initial dose is to what we will ultimately be on, general health, other meds, other medical conditions, etc.
Keep up the good work!
