What is the blood work really saying?

For the past year and a half my blood work has indicated slightly high calcium and low D, slightly anemic, slightly high sugar. now they vary in combination. I have been identified with reduced kidney function and this week high Parathyroid. I have extreme body spasms on the left side of neck, stomach area, back, hands and feet, and legs, bad memory, fatigue, depression, heart trouble ( 1 blockage) and just diagnosed with asleep apnea.I have had asthma all my life. Can you have a tumor on the Parathyroid gland with only slight rises in these blood levels?

Yes - Dr. Norman's parathyroid.com site is so easy to understand. His practice and IT team setting up that site really did a good job.

Yes, a tumor could be the issue of your slighty high calcium and many find they go for years with parathyroid disease without being Dx'd. You list only 2 blood labs with calcium ( which one?) and low Vit D. There are 4 blood labs to pin point parathyroid to see if it may be an issue.

Ionized calcium
Serum calcium
Vit D
phorphorus.

Tracking labs is required and then your doctor can do the sestamibi scan to see if tumors are found. Most of the time these scans miss parathyroid tumors as you will read on Dr. Norman's site.

Great info! I have learned the same info in the past few months. Parathyroid.com is definitely the best place to go to get good accurate info. Dr. Norman is know as one of the best parathyroid surgeons in the world. I know someone who has slight calcium level of 10.3, and has a parathyroid tumor revealed on a sestamibi scan. You have to be careful to make sure you have an experienced person do the scan, otherwise it might be a false negative.

To your question can you have a tumor on the parathyroid gland with only slight rises in these blookd levels?  You can have a parathyroid tumor with only slightly elevated calcium. Actually there is no such thing as only slightly elevated calcium. It's like being pregnant, either you are or your not, same with calcium.  95% of the time a elevated calcium level means parathyroid tumor. You can have as many symptoms as someone with a very high calcium as someone with a slightly elevated calcium. Basically if you have a elevated calcium level and PTH levels over 25 you have a tumor.  Go to Parathyroid.com.   Dr. James Norman is the leading expert in the WORLD on parathyroid tumors and how to diagnoise and treat them.  This is his sight, and I had my own Dr. use this site to help me and my daughter. It list all kinds of symptoms and how to handle it and tells you what to  print off to take to your Dr.  Many Dr.s do not know how to properly diagnoise parathyroid tumors.
