Which is better......????

.....with a dx of Hashimoto thyroiditis...which dr should we see an ENT or and ENDO?? I've noticed there appears to be different drs treating people here on the forum and wondered am I see the wrong kind of dr?

That depends on how smart the Endo is.

The first one I saw was a good diabetes specialist, but he didn't know anything about thyroid hormone levels.

It also depends on your particular form or stage of illness. Some Hashimoto's patients can be treated successfully by a GP, or an ENT, or a gynocologist.

Right now, I trust my GP more than my Endo. However, there are certain tests that only an Endo can order. There are certain treatments that only an Endo can perform.

An ENT cannot order an uptake scan or administer RAI as far as I know. I think an ENT can do an FNA, but I am sure a GP or a Gyno cannot.

So it varies from person to person and to a degree, from doctor to doctor.
