Sorry, I didn't catch the part about the numbness going to just midline...that's nerve stuff... ~MM
Anxiety was my diagnosis three months ago until the doctor begrudingly looked at my rising TSH levels and said, "Uh, nevermind..."
The numbness in the lip on one side could be Bell's Palsy. They've actually correlated it with thyroid disease, mainly hyperthyroidism (sorry, this still probably won't help you figure out what you have, mommy2two2008 lol). Keep a close eye on whether or not you notice the numbness spreading to other parts of that side of the face.
I agree with utahmomma...Low calcium levels will cause tingling around the lips and nose, finger tips and bottoms of your feet sometimes...Next to follow is muscle spasms, often in the feet and calves first...I've also noticed low back and pelvis aching (as if it comes from the bone itself...) If I don't keep up with taking a minimum of 100 mg/ day of calcium citrate with Vit D, this happens...I'm 1 yr post parathyroid tumor surgery...(-1 parathyroid gland)..Hope this helps...also, anxiety can be caused by abnormal calcium levels... ~MM
I know what you mean....those dang drs. why can;t they just say I don't really know.
I would have no problem in trusting such a person.
I hope you don't have to slap, but if necessary go right ahead. Do it for all of us...ha ha
Peggy --- I resemble that remark! I hope you know that is R-E-S-E-M-B-L-E not resent!
LOL - I know what you mean - I swear anybody say anxiety as my diagnosis for this swelling thyroid and I WILL slap them!!!!
when they can't find out what it is, "lets just call this anxiety" "can't let on, that I don't know the answer"....says the doc
I have a lot of strange symptoms like this and I am missing two of my parathyroid glands from my first surgery..... Sometimes when there is no clear cut answers to symptoms like this, I hear "anxiety" from the doctors a lot.....
My strange symptoms are causing the anxiety!!! LOL
So - how long of calcium supplement before you can see a difference?
I have been taking calicum every day but my problem is Vitamin D. My last levels were high on the Vitamin D and I wasn't even taking any supplements at all.
You are welcome Mommy2two...this really does a lot to our bodies....so hard to believe.
That is usually a sign of calcium problems. Take a bunch of calcium (with Vitamin D) - like 2x the daily dose (the excess will flush out of your body) - UNLESS YOU HAVE KIDNEY STONES (then call your doctor first).
Sounds like you are having parathyroid issues. Tell the doc about the numbness and whether or not the calcium helps.
Thanks skeeter! I am starting to think I'm going nutty!
Hello, yes I have had in the past lip numbness and a tingling sensation on the tip of my nose. What that means...I don't know but I have experienced that as well. Hang in there. I've been hanging for a while and still waiting to get my appointment with the Endo to see what they can do for me and all my leg aches and my fatigue is still controlling my life. I have lots of "little things" that are so hard to tell what is causing what. Crazy!!
