I have an enlarges left lobe.ultrasound findings states a prominent-sized left thyroid lobe with a solid heterogeneous mass. Normal right thyroid lobe.
Then my Thyroid scan states:
Technical report:
The patient was injected intravenously with 370 MBq (10 mCi) Tc99m pertechnetate. Static images of the anterior nesk were obtained in anterior and anterior oblique views 20 minutes after injection.
Imaging Report:
Tc99m thyroid imaging shows a normal sized right lobe measuring 4.7cm x 2.2cm. There is adequate and fairly uniform uptake of radionuclide with no focal defects noted.
The left lobe is slightly enlarged, measuring 4.5cm x 2.6cm There is a well circumscribed photon-deficient defect accupying the lateral two-thirds, consistent with a hypofunctioning nodule.
Conclusion:
Slightly enlarged left lobe with a hypofunctioning nodule. Normal sized right lobe with no focal defect.
May I ask if I need to take a FNOB?
Thanks, Cindy
