cause

I am trying to understand the cause of my hypothyroidism.

       Had lab work done on whole body systems Tue 23Aug.

  Reviewed the results with DO 29Aug.     My              


T3 total result  20ng/dl   range 80-200    below low normal

T4 (Thyroxine)   0.6ug/dl  range 4.4-12.5  below low normal

TSH          >100.00ulu/ml range 0.3-4.2   above high normal

    comments/notes  TSH = 622.6


  weight on 23Aug 106.5 height 5' Caucasion    was advised
  
   that stimulation was occurring but thyroid was not responding to stimulation what can cause the no response from the thyroid

I take it you don't have any sign of a goiter (growth) on the thyroid itself
Has your doctor(s) tested you for any type of an autoimmune disorder?
I was diagnosed years ago with Hashimotos disease; (my immune system turned on itself ) Google this on the web (autoimmune disease)

I agree that you should have thyroid antibodies indicated by gimel to see if you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis.  Hashi's is an autoimmune disease in which antibodies attack the thyroid, causing it not to function.  Hashi's is the most prevalent cause of hypothyroidism in the developed world, but there are other causes as well.

Has your doctor started you on treatment?  Has he ordered a thyroid ultrasound?

Unfortunately, your doctor ordered two tests, total T3 and total T4, which are considered obsolete.  Free T3 and free T4 give a much more complete picture of the thyroid hormone actually available to your body for use.  You should request those next time.
