While methylcobalamin is the preferred form of B-12, because it's easier to absorb, toxicity of cyanocobalamin is negligible (the amount of cyanide in 1,000 micrograms of cyanocobalamin is about .6% of the amount that is thought to be the lower level that causes harm).... Cyanocobalamin must be converted to methylcobalamin in order to be used.
vitamin b12 best absorbed when on an empty stomach so its best to take it at morning before breakfast.
also take only sublingual methylcobalamin b12 not cyanocobalamin version. methylcobalamin is natural and better absorbed while cyanocobalamin is synthetic and also toxic due to the cyanide component. most ignore it but cyanide can remain in your system.
Thanks. They didn't put me on thyroid, but you made me think about something else, do I need to take either at a different time from my BC pill?
Be sure to separate minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, iron, etc from thyroid medication by at least 4 hours as they inhibit absorption of thyroid hormones.
Vitamin B-12 provides energy, so it's, typically, best to take it in the morning to get the benefit from it for the entire day and to make sure it wont' interfere with sleep.
Vitamin D is fat soluble so you should take it when you're eating something with fat in order for it to be properly absorbed... I drink full fat milk, so I usually take my vitamin D with a glass of milk at lunch, but you can take it any time you're eating/drinking something with fat.
I tend to take the d in the morning with Breakfast .. and my B12 in the afternoon with lunch .. just in case they cause stomach upset ..
I hope this helps
