hypothyroid and menopause

Does anyone else suffer with Hypthyroidism and menopause. My symptoms are so bad that at times i actually feel like I am going absolutly crazy. Some days it is just hard to functions and I am like every other mother that needs to do just the normal everyday things in life such as cooking supper and housework that seems to be such a hard thing for me to do sometimes. I have no appetite at all. The doctor put me on Lexapro for depression and anxiety which seems to make all my other symptoms worse. Although the doctor tells me my thyroid test are fine I feel hyper and hypo at the same time. I dont know if i am making any sense at all but would love to hear for anyone if you have any of these problems like me. I really dont know what else to do. This all seemed to start about 6 months ago altthough i have suffered with thyroid problems for years. Now my symptoms with menopause are just unbearable. Thanks to anyone for some feedback. I need to find out exactly from the doctor what my TSH and t4 and t3 levels were. Of course the nurse who called didnt inform me of them. I do have an appointment with another Endo next week. My Gyn did do a hormone profile and when they called all they said was yes you are in menopause and that was that. I am so frustrated. I desperately just want to be my normal self who always was able to just take care of my family and everyday things of life....... God Bless

Yes, I understand completely!!!
You need a good endocrinologist AND  a hormone specialist. It took me many different drs and appointments to finally find my "team". I had to go thru 4 endos to find the one I have now ( she is good) and 2 family drs, to find my primary care dr (He is GREAT!!!), and a hormone specialist (gyn or antiaging dr- love her).
Getting your thyroid levels at optimal levels AND getting your hormones regulated has really helped me. I still have some "bad" days, but far more good than "bad". I am only in perimenopause- so Dr. said this could on for another 5-7 years!!!
I tried the antidepressant route before the hypothyroid and hormones issues were found , and for me it was a bandaid. I too felt like I was losing my mind slowly and surely. Sometimes however, it is helpful to stay on meds til you get your thyroid and hormones in more normal range-which does take time !
I am now sleeping better, anxiety is almost gone, and hot flashes are mild - ( before they were so bad I thought I would faint from the intense heat).
Be persistent and do not give up til you find drs who help you. Ask your local compounding pharmacy, check health grades, top thyroid drs, ect... google, google, til you find answers.
You owe it to yourself and to your family!!
Good luck and god bless your search.
