I have a lump on the lower right side of my neck near thyroid... I went for the ultrasound and they found a large nodule on the right side and my neck is killing me and ear is clogged....waiting to go for the needle byopsy...scared too death
The nodules located on the front of the neck are in most cases not posing compressive symptoms even if they are larger then 2 cm in size, compared to those located on the rear lower sections of thyroid.
it is visible on my neck.
If the nodule is isoechoic or hyperechoic, "hot" or "warm" based on nuclear scan, has hypoechoic halo around it, has well defined borders, and not extensive intranodular vascularity, and mobile (not fixed to the surrounding tissue), it is benign in most cases.
( I am sorry if I overfilled you with the diagnostic terms but these are key words you should look for on ultrasound report ,if you get chance to see one).
Is this nodule palpable or visible on the neck?
doc never told me anything about nodule, just size and nothing worringly about it . going on wednesday to see my other doc ror all my results . getting stressed waiting.
Is this nodule solid or cystic; is it hypoechoic or hyperechoic; are there any other thyroid abnormalities?
If the FNA indicates that the nodule is benign and cystic, the ethanol injection can be used to reduce it s size; if nodule is solid it can be monitored ; if the nodule continues to grow , surgical removal can be offered.
