Thanks, everyone.  Right now my parents live about 45 minutes away but unfortunately that doesn't mean we see them all that often :-P  Maybe once every 2 months or so.  They'll be moving roughly 12 hours away (we live outside Philly now).  But the upshot is that my children will get to experience the job of 12 hour long car rides to visit grandma & grandpa like my brother & I did :-)  My dad's family still lives down there for the most part so it'll be moving back home for him.  My parents just can't take the cold anymore and even though my dad has had to keep working because they need the health benefits I think at this point he spends so many days bored (and trying to stay away) at work and having to take so much time off for his & my mom's health issues that it's not even worth it.  I will really miss them and their ability to come over & watch the kids if we need it but we'll make do.  They made do miles & miles away from their parents and we can do it, too.

I haven't called my dad yet today but last night (Saturday) he said that her bp held steady throughout the day except for right after getting pain medicine but it always came back up.  Her hemoglobin also held steady throughout the day.  So she's on the road to recovery, just sore & still "out of it".  I'll hopefully post more later if I get a chance.  My house looks like a bomb hit it because almost everything is in a box or a bag piled up in my front room, living room, dining room or outside.  I got to drive a 24' foot truck today :-)  And I get to do it later today, too and drive it over an hour tomorrow to our new home.  Whoopee!!!  I am so looking forward to the cleaning today once the bags & boxes are in the truck.  But with family & friends helping me it shouldn't be too bad.  Take care, everyone.

Sorry to hear of the complications .... good thing you are a nurse, too, so can ask the right ?'s but tough when a child isn't cooperating and cranks out .. BTDT for sure.

Keep us updated...C~

I'm glad she's doing okay, and that they were watching her so close!!  I'm sure she's going to be sore, but I'll bet she's thankful that it's over.

Wow, they're moving!!  Good for your dad for retiring!  Mine is still working, but since he owned his own company with a buddy, he goes in when he wants.  Normally every day, but not full days.  How far will they be from you?  Do they live close now?  My parents are pretty much next door.  I can't see their house until the leaves fall off the trees and the corn is cut, but I know they're there.  It would be strange to have them far away after all these years.

Anyway, you're very welcome for the prayers and I'm so happy that she's doing well even though she ended up with two surgeries.  Tell her to quit hiding those vessels!!!  :-)

She's doing better today.  We saw her briefly yesterday eve and she was very tired & a little pale.  At the time they were a little concerned because her bp was a little low (90s/50s) and she hadn't made any urine since she got out of surgery about 5 hours before.  We didn't stay very long because our son was a bit rambunctious and she was so tired.  My dad called this morning to say that mom had gone back to surgery around midnight because the surgeon missed a bleeding vessel.  Her hemaglobin had been dropping and she had too much blood coming out of her drain.  So this time he had to make a bigger incision to get to the vessel which was hiding behind her stomach.  My dad said she was a little depressed this morning that she ended up with the bigger incision as well as the 5 little ones from the first surgery.  But her bp is doing much better (was high once when she was in pain but it came back down once she got some pain medicine).  They're getting her out of bed to a recliner and being aggressive with her breathing so that she doesn't develop any pneumonia.  They had originally planned on going home Sunday but I doubt she'll be going before Monday or Tuesday.

While we were visiting my dad surprised us by telling us that when he & my mom were visiting family last week in SC they bought a house.  He's finally retiring, at age 69, and they will be moving down the end of October - assuming my mom is strong enough to travel.  They'll be living 2 miles from one of his 2 living sisters and there will be a bunch of nieces, nephews and other family members to help them and visit with.  It'll be a long way from us but it'll be the best thing for them - to be close to lots of family.

So she's doing much better but she's still not out of the woods yet.  Thank you for your continued prayers.
