To me, no news is good news. I always think that if it is something awful they would have called immediately, (of course not always the case).
Hope all is well with your results...Try doing something to get your mind off of it, or go somewhere (mall, park, dinner, lunch) to avoid having to look at the phone.......
Give them a call!! I did - I hated waiting and they didn;t seem to mind. It always seemed to me that they would call so late in the day and hate that most of all. I am not very patient when it comes to this stuff. Good luck - keep us posted.
I know my doctor had me schedule an appointment to get the results at the same time I scheduled the Ultrasound/FNA biopsy. I would call them if it was me. You are the patient and I feel as though they should be concerned with how anxious this makes you.
On another note, is it unusual to have to schedule an appointment for results? I am feeling a negative outcome on this thing. When the solitary nodule showed up on the CT scan on April 25, it was noted at 7mm. I heard the ultrasound tech give the doctor aspirating cells a size of 1.2 cm x 9mm x 1.2 cm. Solitary nodule, no symptoms, seems to be growing, all thyroid levels normal. Doesn't seem to be boding well.
I called them this morning and she told the results usually don't come in until the afternoon and that they would call me when they got them. When they called to tell me about the nodule the doctor himself called me. I was in the middle of the home improvement store with my husband and kids. I would have much rather been at home where I could have freaked out in private instead of in the middle of the store. They didn't ask me to come in, he just blurted it out right there over the phone. I am wondering if it will be the same this time. I kinda think that if they ask me to come in for the results then it would not be good news, but that is just my opinion. If they know right now I am going to demand they tell me over the phone. I don't want to be in some impersonal office if I get bad news. I want to be in my home where I can go and lay on my bed and bawl my eyes out if I need to. Of course this is all assuming the worst, which prayerfully will not be the case.
After the biopsy the nurse told me that he usually tells the patients how much of the nodule is cancerous, for example 85% benign and 15% cancer. This just doesn't make sense to me.
My Family doctor called me with the nodule and other news. He referred me to an ENT and all moved pretty quickly until I had to wait six weeks for the thyroid scan because of iodine used in the CT scan that my family doc ordered. Thyroid blood tests all came back normal, thyroid scan shows a cold nodule, the nodule has increased in size since I had the CT scan in late April. If we have to get cancer this is the one we want. It is highly treatable. Keep me posted and I will you.
did you have a biopsy at all? did they say how big it was?
I understand the anxiety you are experiencing. I waited two weeks for the results of my biopsy. They knew I was anxious but they could not speed it up. Then I sat by the phone for 6 weeks waiting for a surgery date. It was a very difficult time.

After my FNA I called the office and got the results after a couple of days. By this time, I was furious with doctors and their lack of knowledge and compassion though... I was taking charge and it was not going to be pretty...
Think of it this way... They took out a peice of "you", ownd by "you". YOUR DNA. They are YOUR results. You pay (HUGE) hard earned dollars for them. It is not at someone's bizarre discression that you should find out YOUR biopsy results. You should find out when the results are in, and you call for them. They are yours. Call them and demand the news. Good, bad, or ugly. We'll be here for you.
Good luck.
Tell them when you call - you are not going to hang up until you speak with someone who can tell you what is going on... PERIOD.
They will get it - and most likely give you the answers you want.
I had a goiter/left lobe removed June 14th. Initial pathology showed a 1cm papillary cancer; the rest was forwarded to Mayo Clinic for further determination on "suspicious areas". Initially, I was told the report from Mayo would take 2-3 days. I called all this week and nothing has come in. Then, on Friday they told me sometimes it takes 2-3 weeks to get the final report. So, I can surely sympathize with your anxiety as i've got some of that going on now as well. Just keep in touch with your Doctor's office and let them know that you are anxious about it and would like the results ASAP, over the phone if that is your preference. Good luck and try to be positive...keep us posted.
Yes, I had a FNA guided by ultrasound on 6-25. I have a lot of bruising as a result. I have an appointment to get the results tomorrow. I'm very frustrated but apparently my waits have been short in comparison to many others. Keeping you in my prayers.
Actually, I did that 10.5 yrs ago waiting for results from a CVS test which is like amnio but done at 10weeks gestation. I konw how you feel. Also, I waited similar 12 very long days for my surgery right after my thyroid surgery when I grew a terrible lump 1/4" above my thyroid and they did not know what it was looking at it. the good news: both reports were wonderful news.
Hang in there,
C~
Hope you get a good report. If you are drivinig or in public, don't answer your phone, and call them back when you have arrived home safe. Will pray for a good result for you!!!
