87 breathing rate is more of how much oxygen he is using its supposed to be over a 100
I'm just trying to find some "concrete" symptoms to discuss with the doctor. Doctors tend to understand things like elevated HR and BP better than they do psychological issues.
I don't understand about his breathing rate, though. Normal breathing rate is 12-18 breaths per minute, so 87 would be really high???
i am struggling getting how he feels as he is developmentally delayed and not a great.
he does often have low breathing rate he had a seizure last month as a result of his breathing rates been in the 87 range. i haven't check the others i will check on it.
he does suffer with constipation and he gets a lot of infections ear or chest
I'd ask the doctor to explain his enlarged thyroid. He should order a thyroid ultrasound to find out more about what's going on there.
I'd also ask him to test FT3, FT4 and TSH (not totals). You want to know what FT3 is doing, as that's what correlates best with symptoms.
I think I'd ask the doctor to explain the thyroid enlargement first. If there's swelling, that's a dead giveaway that something isn't right. Next, I'd ask him about the high TT3 result. As I said, we can't assume that his FT3 is high also, but we can confirm that with an FT3 test.
Does he have any other symptoms at all, either hypo or hyper? Elevated or decreased BP or HR? Insomnia or excessive sleeping? Tremors?
Dr just said his labs were normal and did nothing more i'm hoping to see another Dr this Wednesday for more clarification but want to make sure i ask the right questions and if he is showing problems get him some sort of help but i don't no what that should be
TPOab (thyroid peroxidase antibodies) is one of the markers for Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and your son's test is negative, so it doesn't look like that's what you're dealing with here. It also doesn't look like Graves'. Typically, TSH is very low with Graves'.
His FT4 is actually a little on the low side (which would indicate hypo, not hyper). It's 35% of range, and the rule of thumb for FT4 is 50%. However, it's not low enough to be of real concern.
Unfortunately, his doctor ordered total T3, which is considered an obsolete test and not nearly as useful as FREE T3. His TT3 is above range, which would point toward hyper. We can't assume that just because TT3 is high that FT3 would be as well.
As far as symptoms go, his are mixed. Enlarged thyroid can be from either hypo or hyper. Has he had a thyroid ultrasound?
Temper outbursts and intolerance to heat are typically hyper symptoms, while memory issues and weight gain usually are associated with hypo.
What is his doctor saying?
thyroid peroxidase antibodies
Which antibodies did they test?
hi
the labs ranges are t4 0.70-2.40 his is 1.30 t3 range was 91-194 his was 202 tsh range is 0.70-6.00 antibodies range is 0-3.9 his test was shown as <0.5
he has a lot of symptoms he has enlarged thyroid, temper out bursts, he has been classed as developmentally delayed as he is not remembering things, he hates been warm he has recently put on 6 lbs in a few months and is eating well hes is so hyper at times then he crashes
What are the reference ranges on his FT4 and TT3? Ranges vary lab to lab, so they have to come from his own lab report.
Which antibodies were tested? Range?
With Graves', TSH is typically very low. What made you think Graves'?
Does he have symptoms?
