My ONEYear Anniversary here at Med Help

I can't believe it is a year. I felt like my life was near ends rope when I first posted and now seeing how far I have come in health - I am blessed.

Friends - please know YOU CAN find a quality of life return back with self education and support from the people who really understand what you are going through. There are doctors who can help you - FIND THEM.

For starters - Find a doctor who will listen to your symptoms - use the labs in combination with listening to you and stop treating to you as a TSH number alone - PLEASE.

The TSH is a "Thyroid Stimulating Hormone"  - It is one component of YOU with hundreds of other very special things that make up YOU and what works best for YOU.

A "patient" doctor will be your best friend and wellness guide. This is a long process for both you - Work Together. Be an advocant in YOUR health.

Labs are wonderful and help so much - but YOU and HOW you feel has to be put together with those labs to make you whole again. Listen (KNOW) the ranges of your TSH  - the FREE T3  - and the FREE T4  tests and compare them to how you feel. There is an answer lying in those labs.

KNOW YOUR WELLNESS NUMBERS.

As a Co Community Leader I want you to all know how much I appreciate the support and strength you all have given BACK to me. I voewed to the Lord - that if I ever got well again I would never let anyone suffer as much  - I felt  - I did for so many years. That is what I try to do on "each" post I comment on.

I appreciate all the love I have here and respect and admire everyone for their honesty and support - but I wouldn't feel right not mentioning the two people who  - I feel -  saved my life first coming on board.

Kitty9309 I hold so dear on my heart for offering her knowledge at the the beginning of my search.

and AR-10 who's there for me when I was at my absolute lowest emotionally - financially- and illness. I consider him one of my very best friends I will ever have.

I could never of found the strength to find MY path of getting well without him.

He even took the time to teach me to navigate around the board.

He knows how to combine his wealth of thyroid knowledge with a human twist of communication to explain this horrible disease in simplicity. He was the soul I needed.

Thank you for saving my life B.

OK  - as we look forward to a New Year upon us -  We all have different levels of knowledge whether new friends or old. Let's build this community as an internet leader of community support and guidance.

I hate to say this so bluntly - but this disease ***** - We CAN beat it by learning and sharing all we know with our different levels of knowledge and offer it to all the ask. We are sometimes the only family/friend a person has. - Let's be the best Thyroid cyber family/friend as possible.

Peace to all for the Holiday Season - May God and the members here at Med Help guide you in the right path of wellness and hope.

Nikki (Stella5349)

Stella,
Happy one year anniversary.
We have so much to be thankful for this past year.
I came aboard about the same time as you and I have learned a lot from everyone.  I'm still trying to grasp the ends and out of this disease.

We've come a long way baby!

Take care
Terri

Thanks stella, laura, and cheryl for all your help this year. I am on my way to healing as soon as the inflammation goes down. I will be starting to see a therapist soon. It isn't any fun, but I seemed to have more help here than my doctors. So thanks guys. Sure Ill have more to ask.:)

Congratulations on your Anniversary.  It's nice to know that you are here to lend a hand, lift spirits and give advice or make suggestions.

As I've posted before, I'm very new to the whole thyroid scene - dx with hypothyroidism in June 08 and Hashi's just last week.  I've had a lot of trouble with my PCP not listening to me, blowing me off, etc.  I'm very fortunate in that I have an ENT who's quite knowledgable about thyroid and sent me for additional tests, etc.  He actually cared enough to listen to how I feel and has now referred me to an endo, with whom I will have my first appt toward the end of January.  I'm hoping a new year will bring me closer to finding the doctor who can help find an end to this madness and I thank you for being here to listen to my whining when things don't go my way or I don't feel good.

Hoping you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and the greatest of New Years and many more to come.

Happy Anniversary!

I can add.  Find a qualified doctor too; one with the skills to pick up on symptoms, but also one who will pick up on signs (I just mentioned this in another thread).

I, for one, am so grateful I had a skilled dr who knew to do that.  If he had just gone by symptoms, I wouldn’t be here.  I never reported any symptoms of thyroid disease!  Also, if he had gone by how I was feeling about my thyroid, I wouldn’t be here either.  I was originally at the dr because of a stomachache.  That’s not exactly something that elicits the word ‘thyroid.’  (BTW – I’ve always paid attention to my health.)

I agree:  “There are doctors who can help you - FIND THEM.”

Again, Happy Anniversary and Congratulation!
