tyroid nodule

Hello,,sorry if my english is not so great,,Im still learning,,I went with an Ent due a lump on my
thyroid area,,he did a FNA wich results were as unclear,,due size of the nodule i was schedule
for surgery next Feb,,He told me there is not further test that can tell me if is cancer or not.
My thyroid is working well and no history of cancer in my family. At this pont I dont know what to do,, Should I take a second opinion?,,I can feel and see the lump is kind of big!,,Im traveling to Mexto spend festivitis with family...Should I try a second biopsi down there?

The FNA cannot always tell if a lump is cancer.  So, yes, the only other way to know for sure is surgery to remove the lump.  I had a mass removed in November and it was benign but there was no other way to know for sure.

There is always the possibility that the lab who processed your FNA biopsy did not read the slides correctly, or did not have enough sample to offer a good reading.  Getting another opinion wouldn't hurt.  You don't have to do another FNA.....just have another lab look at your pathology slides.  I had my slides reviewed by two separate labs prior to surgery.  Hope this helps!

Good job on your English!   It never hurts to get a second opinion.  However there isn't anything that can tell for sure whether the nodule is cancerous other than taking it out.  If your nodule is quite large there is a good reason to have it removed.  If you are in doubt - get a second opinion.
