update on the swelling

Hey guys and gals!  Just wanted you to know that the Medrol (steroid), Naproxan (anti inflammatory) and the xanax (.25 - low dose at night) is working for the carotidynia!!!!!  OMG, yesterday and today, I woke with no soreness!!!  YIPEE!  As for the thyroid, it is swollen every morning and usually goes down by lunch time.  I am still very tired and hot feeling has taken over the cold feeling, but hey - my neck is not soooo tight!  Even when the thyroid swelling is low, I still have that extra lump to the right when I swallow - guess I may never find out what that is, but maybe my things are looking up!  As for the monthly, I guess - who needs it!!!  LOL. ;-)

I was on Xanax for about 5 yrs b/c of what you are experiencing. It did help at the time - but now that my thyroid meds are balanced - I am glad I do not take that much at all.

I will cheat once in a while and break a tablet of Xanax in a quarter IF needed - but the relief of the neck tightness and soreness is wonderful.

I am so glad you are getting some rest finally.

Glad you're feeling better.  I wish I could ask my mother about her experiences with the same thing but, unfortunately, she is non-communicative due to another issue.

Hope they keep an eye on your thyroid - it does sound suspicious.

Take care.

I was very worried about the xanax, but man, what a way to sleep!  Last night my 3 yr old got in bed with me and I didn't even know, that's how soundly I was sleeping!  I usually would not touch anything like that, but it is helping me!

That sounds like a great combination.  I am Hyper T and have trouble sleeping.  Might ask my Endo about the xanax.  He prescribed Lorazipam the first couple of months after being diagnosed.  Then he took me off of it.  I'm thinking he needs to put me back on it for awhile:)
