thanks thelma are you going to be proactive to obtain t3 meds for yourself since its been so long and your t4 meds are not resolving your symptoms completely? i hope you do as i wish for the best for you. i just feel that so much time has been wasted on this and if there is a solution im going for it.
I'm also on a low dose of T3 med (5 mcg/day) and it makes a world of difference for me. I also take calcium and magnesium daily. Magnesium is great for relaxing muscles and it's also calming so when taken at bedtime, might even help you sleep. I take mine (both calcium and magnesium) in two doses; one at noon, the other at bedtime; but whenever you take it, make sure you separate it from your thyroid med by at least 4 hours.
YEP! exactly what i said in my first post. Many people do just fine on T4. I think we all know when we've given T4 alone enough time. After years on it and many dosage increases(i'm taking 150mcg) and FT3 is still very low in range, and i feel it...the continuing fatigue and muscle issues. annamae26, 5mcg might be the thing you need to get rid of these symptoms, may take a little time...so if your Dr. prescribed T3, by all means ,take it!!! Let us know if you see improvement...i surely hope you do :)
No, I don't think you convert properly, either. I was just trying to clarify what I said...didn't want anyone to think that I meant EVERYONE needs T3 meds, I take T4-only meds, so would never argue that point. I think you need your T3...definitely.
www.triggerpointbook.com/examples.htm
Barnes and Noble have it too.
looking everywhere for the trigger point workbook on ebook its not on kindle. i can t see regular books need to find it on ebook download. looks very interesting and i won t stop until i find it thanks for the tip
i don t think i convert properly because my ft3 went from 444 range 230-420 to 260 so it dropped to the floor with the decrease in levo and holding the t3 meds. if i don t take the t3 meds it will probably drop more--- right?
Just to clarify...when I said T3, I meant the hormone T3, not T3 meds. Not everyone needs T3 meds, but it is ONLY T3 hormone that can be used by cells. No receptors for T4 have ever been identified, so it must be converted to T3 to be used. I agree that if you convert properly, not everyone needs T3 meds.
Great to hear you are finally on track !
thank you all for your, as usual out of this world fantastic support and information. i will take more d and magnesium and i will find the info about trigger point release. and i am now taking the whole five mcg t3 pill with no heart pounding- i just had to get into it slowly. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU THANK YOU00
How much we ache also may depend on how many previous soft tissue damage our bodies already have before the hypo sets in. That my belief why some have no aches from hypo - they never did before either. Hypo can exagerate and resurface past injuries big or small. Also depends how long you were hypo. Myself - possibly two decades. Getting better is very slow for me becuase of that long time when I really needed T3. Not all Do! Its an experiment.
With out enough T3, muscles do not recover from everyday use. With out T3, the ATP muscle rebuilding cellular process is slowed. Magnesium is driven out, while lactic acid sets in. And then muscle tightness sets in which in turn stops new blood flow and the process magnifies.
I'm sure you've seen my posts ranting about trigger point muscle release. People ignore me on this topic, but once in a great while I get a PM saying "I finally tried it, and its working - thanks!" Trigger Point Release Workbook by Davies and Davies. This book is part of my life, T3 helps, but when I'm hurting, I go to the book and fix my pain. Some of us may have a little hypo pain forever, depending on if there is any permanent damage.
i believe that to be very true!!! now all i have to do is get a DOCTOR to give me some t3!!! sounds so easy, but this has been impossible for me thus far
Every cell in our bodies needs T3 to function and repair. That's part of the reason why, when we're hypo, we don't heal as well or as fast. Our cells are constantly repairing themselves...or trying to. If they lack the T3 to accomplish that, the very little injuries that we all suffer every day (at the cellular level) compound until there's enough cell damage to create a "hurt". Most of my aches and pains went away once I was on a therapeutic dose. Your body needs to heal.
I didn't have the achiness at first either, i know i'm undertreated..have been for a long time.maybe it just catches up after a while?? are you sure your getting enough hormone? i have the stiffness, achiness, soreness, joint pains..for me i know i'm not getting enough. my tsh has gone below 3.0 only 2x in 4 years.free's are always low or low in range. if you think you're getting enough replacement hormone and it's converting well to t3, maybe vit D or something else is lacking?
