Crazy blood Pressure

by charna, Oct 02, 2006 12:00AM
For about 5 months now I have been experiencing unexplained spikes in blood pressure.  My normal is low 90/60 but suddenly it will go to 145/95 range.  It causes flushing, headaches, fogginess, sometimes numb face.  I have been tested for everything under the sun including for Pheocomocytoma, rare tumor on the adrenal gland.  I have also been experiencing bouts of diarea (diarrhea) this may or may not be related.  I have been cleared by the gastroenterologist, cardiologist, and a vascular specialist. Has anyone else experienced spikes such as this?  Does anyone have an avenue I can explore with my doctor?  Even he admits that at this point we are shooting in the dark.

Do you think the change in blood pressure could be at all due to anxiety?

Beings that you have had many things ruled out and if anxiety can also be ruled out, could it be neurological? A good question for your doctor.

I am having the same symptoms too. I am awaiting the my results for the pheo testing.
Have you seen an Endocrinologist? Have you had your cortisol, aldosterone, calcitonin tested? Also, any hormones that your pituitary secretes? ARe you a female?
How long do your episodes last when your BP spikes?
I am scheduled to see an Endo in a few weeks.
I have these episodes about 3 times a day and they last for about an hour each.
