bruising

by evie60, Nov 06, 2009 08:39PM
Three weeks ago, I fractured my shoulder in three places.  I have a lot of bruising.  Today, however, I felt more pain in the inside of my elbow and noticed a very large, dark bruise that was not there before.  Is this of any significance or just part of the whole injury?

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
It could be connected. It is possible with shoulder injury for some clot to pass down a blood vessel and cause bruising in some area like in your case an elbow on same side. It is also possible that an injury occurred at the elbow too but took some time to come up. It would be good to get the bruise examined. May be an angiogram or a dopplar study may be needed if a clot is suspected.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
