mental withdrawal

hey, today is first time to be on forum and i've been reading it for hours--very helpful; does anybody have suggestions for mental withdrawal; i'm about to begin suboxone, but do you think it helps in relieving mental negativity toward just daily routine. in other words, i think i would have to take hydro  before doing simple things like drying my hair, running errands, washing dishes, etc.  i am on a antidepressant, guess don't really know if it works because my body is so full of opiate.   in other words, I just pray that everything i have to do daily doesn't become a struggle.  hope you know what i mean; let me know.

And why not try NA in addition to any therapy or group counseling.  It's free and it's saved many lives!

Yes, definately - it is a huge part of it. When I'm feeling good I like to ride my bike around the river, so, even though I really did not feel like, I thought to myself; 'what if I ride my bike around the river', will it make me feel healthy? It certainly did. As in the Nike commercial "just do it"

I have just completed my first week on suboxone (actually I am on Subutex during the induction period - then doc will switch me to suboxone)...  I was also taking anti-depressants and thought about suicide every day after a three year oxy habit.  The subutex has been a miracle.  No WD symptoms, I quit taking my anti-depressant and have not thought about suicide once.  I have very little depression after only a week.  It has been amazing.  According to my doc, sub takes away the cravings and normalizes you so you can deal with whatever issues led to the addiction in the first place.  He is going to hook me up with an addiction psychologist.  I am eager to take that step.  Counseling during sub treatment has a much higher success rate than sub alone.  Good luck Brenda, I hope it works as good for you as it is for me.

You really should set up some kind of addiction counseling in order to work on the mental stuff. Relying on another drug to help this is not a great way to start out attempting recovery, especially since Suboxone is still an opiate medication. It still effects the brain in alot of the same ways other pain meds do, including bringing on severe apathy over time with use.And depression. Another drug will not fix all of that. therapy, counseling, changing behaviors is the best way to start to change this stuff.

It helps if you say what you were taking mgs #   Did you read all the post about sub withdrawal? Some say it's worse than opiate withdrawal. I don't personally know, never took it. I took valium for first few days of withdrawal then ct. I didn't want to jump from the frying pain into the oven.

As I mentioned earlier, the Suboxone WILL alleviate all of those symptoms, including mental, in my experience.  Let us know how things are going.
