Had to come off Tramadol...OMG when will this be over

Well first of all hello, Ill just call myself drod...(don't ask)..I have been taking tramadol 50mg (ultram) since apr. 2005-2006 after a 2 level spinal fusion I take apr. 15 a day, I recently lost the Dr. that kept them coming to me on the regular! I have been to several different Dr.s to get on them however my insurance has ran out. I want to quit taking them because I'm tired of living around the pill bottle that sits in my closet! The last time I took a tramadol was on 10/13 and I only took one and now there gone, so I'm going on three day's however I still feel some of the side effects such as vertigo, depression, which comes & goes & god knows I cant sleep worth ****. Ive taken some "natural sleeping pills" & NyQuil to help me sleep but its not working. I'm feeling OK I guess but the vertigo & the occasional depression I'm going crazy!!! Ive read some of the past post but I'm wanting more detailed answers with how many days will it take for me to be me again & especially the vertigo...damn when will that stop. Is there something OTC I could take to help me feel OK or what? what should I do for sleep? I appreciate it and sorry its so long.

I am right with you Drod. I am on  my 3rd day and am walking the path right next to you. I am not sure if I can offer any insight other than for you to know I will be in touch with you if you wish. My symptoms are more of depression and anxiety...Pretty severe at times. But every day is getting better. This forum has done me a great service and offered some wonderful peace during this time.

Hang in there. I'm with you as are the rest of this group.

I also was taking 15 a day, for a couple years.  That seemed to be my number, 15.  Sometimes I took up to 20, but hardly ever.  And tomorrow I'll be at 6 a day Finally.  WoooHooo!!!  I have a ways to go.

You are such a Monster....Wow Wow...You went Cold Turkey at 400mg per day.  What a beast you are.  That had to be the hardest two weeks of your life.  I commend you!  You are the MAN!  I wonder if it will be any easier for me Tapering down to a pill a day, then quitting.  I hope so, but I think I know, it's going to be pretty bad.  But not like what you went through, really WOW!

Oh drod26...you got this, you are past the hard part!  Keep on going, don't turn back, or you will have to start all over.  In a week you will feel a lot more like your old self, I'm sure.  I have one more day of 7 Tramadol per day, today.  Tomorrow I go down to 6.  I still have a ways to go.  But I'm following in some good peoples foot steps.  I will be Clean and Free again from Tramadol!!

just to let you know i quit c/t from trams at 8 50mg a day and it took me three weeks to start feeling better. the first two weeks were horrible i didnt sleep much maybe 7 hrs in two weeks than on the third week would sleep 4 hrs a night. the first three to four days was the worst as far as body pain.the depression was the worst in hangs on for a bit but you can do this just give it time and all will be well on week four. it is so worth it to get off those dang things. i dont want to scare you but ultram is i think harder to withdraw from than most other opiates.hang in there it gets better everyday.

you have a few more days to go .sleep meds dont really seem to do much the first 4 or 5 days coming off of tram .There is something called an amnio acid protocol in our health pages its is supplements that can help the your body healing processes .I will tell you also anytime of exercise you can get even if just a little will help speed the processes up .Hang in there it does get better.

"a 2 level spinal fusion"  I don't even know wtf that is but it sounds sore.  And all they gave you after that was tramadol???

You will start feeling normal again in about 84 weeks.  haha, just pissing about.  In 5 days you will be on the mend.  Good luck, and take care!
