i need help

My name is jake and i am a 21 year old who is going through a tough time.  I had brain surgery for chiari 1 at 13 and scoliosis reconstructive surgery at 14.  A little over a year ago b/c of my scoliosis i got a herniated disc and sciatica.  My pain has been so unbearable that even crossing my leg over is so painful that i cant do it.  My docs got me on pain medicine and it was not a good idea.  I was deeply depressed and abused them greatly.  I abused them for about 8 months and then the doc performed my 5th back operation to try and correct it but the pain is still there. better but still there.  I have to stop abusing pills b/c im starting to have very dark yellow urine and a pain in the tip of my penis when i urinate.  i am so afraid that my organs are damaged and am wondering if anyone has experienced what i am and knows if i should or should not be worried?  please help and God bless you all!!

When pain medication is taken for pain I don't see that it can be called addiction. It is possible that there are more suitable pain killers that you could be using. Discuss this with your doctor.

Hi Jake,

You may want to post this in the substance abuse forum as margy stated, or even in the pain management forum.  I am so sorry you are going through this.  I too, got addicted to pain pills and was on them for years.  At some point you will need to stop them and manage your pain in other ways, if possible, if you are abusing the pain pills.  Most of your organs can repair themselves after quitting, so at your age I would stop now :)  Where are you at with them now?  Do you have a plan for quitting?  We can help you.  Keep posting....

Hi Jake this may not be the right forum , there is a substance abuse forum,also a chiari forum .I am so sorry you are having all this pain,not easy is it ...We also have expert/doctor forums on Med Help, go back to the forums page and look to your right ..Welcome to Med Help I am sure you will find help here ..
