How do I get through this?? I'm so hurt

I've had a beautiful dog named Cyrus for 12 years. Tonight we went out and he was outside and for whatever reason jumped the fence with his lead on. He hung himself. We came home to a nightmare come true. My dearest buddy is dead. I'm destroyed inside, I love that dog with all my heart and he's gone.

Every part of me wants to numb myself. I know I can't but God this pain is torture. 12 years together to end like this?? Life is cruel.
