Hydrocodone withdrawal (light user)

Hi all,

I first took my first vicodin that I got from a friend last summer and really enjoyed the high it gave me. Of course addiction was not a worry because to get addicted you have to have a reliable, consistent source. So, every time I was able to get some, I would, usually paying $5 a pill, just to get that awesome high. Well, in late November, I got "lucky" and came across someone who always had some for sale, always the either 10/325s or 10/500s. So, I started to buy 5 at a time ($25), then when they'd run out, I'd usually wait a few days then give him a call and get some more. Before I knew it, I was buying 12 a time ($60) on a weekly basis, and getting more everytime I ran out. In other words, I had become totally hooked. Now, almost $2000 dollars later, I've decided that this has got to stop. I simply cannot afford it and the addiction is only going to get worse from here. So, today is going be my last day, and I will quit (cold turkey) tomorrow. I suppose I was relatively "light" user by comparison to many hydro addicts. I have been taking 2-3 pills (30 mg) almost everyday for 5 months now. What kind of withdrawal can I expect?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I am afraid you will go into w/d within 24 hrs from your last pill.  It may not be so hard for you and this is my hope.  Keep the immodium handy, and otc pain meds, take some really good viatamins, keep fluids intake good , and try to eat.  You may be down and feeling bad for 3 or 4 days, but this is temporary!  It will pass, and you will be free.  Just do not go back on your quit or it may be harder next time.  Stay commited to your quit,  do not think you can take just one,     Read our posts from everyone, and others and post here often and stay in touch.

Hugs
