24 hrs in, @ work, miserable

I'm officially at 24 hrs since my last dose and trying to pump myself up for the work day. Its time to suck up the pain and spit out the demon in my body. Its funny how a little yellow pill can seem so important at the time. Well, it's time to say goodbye forever, and get rid of this drug hazed lifestyle I've created.  Guess I'm just looking for a little humor to keep up my spirits. Hope everyone has a good day.

Hang in there I am not going to tell you it's going to be easy, but it will get better. Please know your not alone here and lots of good info from these people, heck I didn't even realize I was an ADDICT until I found this forum........I knew I had a problem but to say I was an addict..........no way.

The fact is I am an ADDICT, 3 days clean today and hoping.

Drink lots of water, stay busy and you said you were working my heart goes out to you in that, as I was fortunate to be at home, but you will get through this.

Were here for you.

You are doing a great thing for yourself!  It won't be easy, but post to us and tell us how you are doing!

Do you have everything you need for this?  Immodium?  Advil?  Gatorade?  Ya know, the necessities?  : )  Work would be tough without that stuff!!!

Have a good day...or the best one possible!  You are doing good!

Thanks you guys. I know what everyone says on here, the other side is so great, and I can't wait! I'm getting a little creepy inside and feeling antsy.

Tram, I've def prepared for this. I started taking my potassium, b-complex and multivitamin 3 days ago. I've only made it thru one day in the past so I believe if I can make it past 2 days this time I will be able to keep going. The immodium I read from other posters is a MUST, so I'm armed!

I sure hope nobody wants anything from me at work today! :-)

Sounds like you have everything you need to go thru wd.  Stay positive and keep telling yourself you can and will do this.  Wd's aren't fun by any means but necessary.  Its just our bodies way of getting rid of the toxins we have fed it.  Keep posting and letting us know how you are doing.  You can do this!!!!!!!          sara

Is it normal for your muscles to spasm i.e. jump spontaneously for no good reason when only on day 2 of wd's? my knee keeps jerking under my desk and its very uncomfortable plus to add embarassing w/ co-workers around. Anything I can do?

Yes!  Get some Hyland's Restful Legs and a good Cal/Mag supplement.  I didn't believe it would work, until I got desperate and tried it!  You can get them at Wal Mart or I guess any drugstore.

I did buy the hyland's but assumed it would make me drowsy and I have to work today. Point being I left it at home and no way to go there now. WOW, this really *****. I guess I'll give my co-workers some entertainment for the day. I've knocked my knee on the desk more times than i can count and my arms are jumpy to the point of dropping things. I'm sure by the end of the day they will think I have serious issues....oh well!

Follow the Thomas recipe and try to get to a jacuzzi if you can.  It really helps.  Good luck, I will be thinking goods thoughts for you.

At work?  I would tell the boss I need sick leave and get home. The effects are not just  physical and could cause you to make mistakes or and maybe get you in trouble at work. Besides at home you will be able to take care of yourself the correct way and not be embarassed or have a co-worker complain. I would not want to work with a strung out morphine user going through Hell!!!!  Go home!!!! Good luck.

Thanks Matt - I'm struggling but making it right now. It comes in waves as you know i'm sure! I appreciate the good thoughts. I may sneak out a couple hours early.

Aero - I would love to stay at home all day, but I can't afford to unfortunately. I am thinking long term, and afraid I may have to take Monday off so I can't leave Fri as well.

I know the feeling being unable to leave work.  If you can get out a little early try to.  The next few days are going to be rough, but they are doable.  I am still dealing with the sluggishness, but much better than I was a few days ago.  Keep pushing.  You CAN do this.  I know how hard it is, Just know that by next week you will be feeling much better.

Keep posting after you get home.  The people on this board are amazing and will help get you through the hard times

Well I hope you are home now. Just trying
to point out WD at work is ??!!! Your health
is worth a lot more than missing a few days
of work. The flu is what to say you have and
take care of yourself.

Hope you make it. I am down to 10mg a day.
I am trying to get to 0!

Thanks, I'm home and trying to relax but nothing seems to calm me down. My heart is racing and my mind is too. I just want to make it thru the night at this point. I do agree about everyone on this forum. So kind and patient with everyone.

Thanks Aero - I agree health is #1 right now and thankfully I have the weekend to concentrate on me. Good luck to you as well.

Hey, take a hot bath.  I didn't ever want to when people told me that, but it helped when I finally did.  I think I took about 8 a day when I was in WD!  I was cleaner during that time than I am now at my regular 2 a day!  : )

Also, do you have some Nyquil?  Some say it is helpful at night during WD, much more than the other PM meds.  Those can make RLS really bad.

Just take it an hour at a time.  If you can't sleep, just watch tv and try to keep your mind on something besides how bad you feel! I know it's hard!

Tram is right about the baths or a jacuzzi if you have access to one.  They were the only thing that made me feel better.  Keep us posted. You're doing GREAT!!!

Now that you are home you can deal with the w/d a little better. By monday you should feel somewhat better. If you can take monday off you might be better off as it will give you another day under your belt and may be able to deal with the w/d better. I hope you can get some sleep tonight. I am pulling for you so hang in there.

Oh Man, I'm trying to stay positive....I've taken 3 hot showers since I've been home. I'm really trying to focus on the good that will come out of this. I sure do appreciate you guys hanging in there with me. Truthfully the only thing getting me thru right now is coming back to my computer to see how everyone is doing. Thanks Matt, Tram, Quit for checking in on me. It's really appreciated.

Matt - I havent seen any news on your girlfriend. Is she hanging in there too? Its probably catch 22 both going thru this at the same time, but also you can appreciate each other more for it.

Quit - I sure do wish I had that waterfront to go to tonight. It sure does sound good.

Tram - Unfortunately I bought nyquil but it has decongestant so I'm afraid to take it. I've already taken 3 of the hylands RLS and I have melatonin I bought.

do you guys think it would be ok to take my b complex, potassium and multivitamin tonight? I'm afraid they will keep me up even more?  thoughts?

My dogs think I'm crazy at this point, but hey, that makes me unique right!?!

Have u read the thomas recipe in the the health pages?  the aminos really help//not tyrosine right now if u r anxious..valerian root and mealtonin can help sleep...as can methionone and theanine which calms u
aftercare is the most crucial step most can take right now..we r all different tho and u may be strong enuf to do this alone..i was not..took me several tries to figure that out tho..lots of wasted time
Positive attitude helps..for sure..if u know u can do this than u can...put all the balls in ur court as well tho...it can be the lil things that help u make it to cleandom

Worried - Thanks, I did read the thomas recipe and feel i have what it suggested. i want to load myself with vitamins right now but afraid some of it will keep me up. I sure don't need help there. i do believe aftercare is important. I'm currently looking for a group to try, but I'm in a small town with no big towns near to travel to w/out being an all day adventure. thanks for the kind words.

Hey NBG I ate a TON of foods w/ potassium yesterday and I was up till 3 but slept ok till 10. Not that I'm certain of such luck tonite but I remain hopeful. And BTW bananas are not the best source of potassuim lb per lb. Tomato juice of soup, potatoes, raisins are all better. I googled that. I also have a multi-v w/ lot's of potassium. Oh and I took a long hot soak before bed. W/ epsom salts. I know that helped. Hang in there man...
