I've just started back at the gym this week. I take my melatonin at about 8 that way I'm asleep by 9ish. (unless there's a hockey game on. Lol). Working out has always been important to me so it feels great to get back at it. First time without any uppers to get me going.
WOW, 30 days is amazing and toooouuuuugh - being clean 6mos, a year, 5yrs - is a huge accomplishment & the goal we're all after, but the work involved being clean the rest of your life is nothing compared to the work - and pain - of the first 30. SERIOUS CONGRATS!
... let alone 4:30am at the gym?? Thats fantastic! - if u dont mind me being nosy, what time do you go to sleep at night? And how long after quitting were you able to do that??? Im doing better, lol, but nothing like that, and ive had MONTHS! And once, a lifetime ago, i worked at a gym as a trainer and jogged every day. Ah, memories, lol
Yes they do seem to step up when we show we are giving it a good try :) It makes a big difference support at home this is why being open and honest with our loved ones is so important.. I'm very glad you are receiving the support you deserve..
Thanks so much. I'm feeling pretty good my husband has actually been much supportive lately, that helps big time. I have a lit of work left but I'm getting there
that is recommend I should have a cup of coffee before typing :)
Oh Kelseago. I read this and the biggest smiler spread over my face !! Whoo Hooo so Happy for you !! Therapy helped me so much I would recompensed it for anyone The help I received on sorting out and letting go was tremendous !! You sound good.. I hope you will not be a stranger and check in and let us know how you are. warmly lesa
I'm attending NA right now. I'm eventually wanting to get into therapy. I have a lot of past issues that I need to resolve. NA is very helpful but I think I need mire guidance in letting go of a lot of stuff. It does feel great to get back to the gym. I gotta lose all this weight I've gained since my quitting
Congratulations!!! 30 days is awesome!!
You sound good and you sound "free" which is a great feeling, isn't it? Keep up the good work and things will continue to get better. I know that working out is helping a lot. I think it makes a huge difference in getting those endorphins to kick in. I didn't do any exercising my last go round and I felt the difference so good for you.
I know you have been asked this---probably a lot, but will you be engaging in any aftercare? I ask because the "sorting out" part is necessary and a great thing to do to let go of the past and get on with your future. However, it is a tough thing to do alone. It takes us a long time to get the tools to deal with life on life's terms and in the beginning I think it is important to learn from those who have gone before us and can share their experiences with us. For me it was a great group of people at NA/AA meetings who took me under their wing and guided me. I also did individual, and eventually, group therapy to get to the core issues. While my recovery is something I work everyday, those things I did right after the physical withdrawal helped me to and stay where I am today. It was the foundation I needed. I hope you find something that works for you.
In any case, glad to see you going forward and glad you stuck around!!! Do something nice for yourself today!!
Congratulations!!! I think melatonin is great. For years I was given ambien for fibromyalgia. Eventually it quit working. I tried melatonin about six months ago and it works sooo much better. I don't have to take it every night but if I haven't slept great in a few nights, I'll take one. It was even recommended for one of my kids by their doctor. I used to hit the gym at 4:30 a.m., too ... loved it. No one there and you get you're exercise done early in the day. It's one of the things I want to get back too when I finish my taper.
