Hi and welcome! This is an old thread that you are posting on. If you go out to the main page and hit the 'post a question' link you can start your own thread. That way you can get more support and info. I have no experience with either pregnancy or subs, but someone will be along. You are in the right place. Hang in there, weekends can be kind of slow.Good luck to you and take care!

I was addicted to opiates/herion for many years and when I first tried to get clean I started a Subutex maintenance program. I was taking between 16-24 mg a day for a few months when I found out I was pregnant. My sub doctor kept me on the Subutex. He said it was a "class C" medication which means it has not been approved for pregnancy and in my case the benefits of taking the Subutex outweighed the risk of relapse or miscarriage from withdrawals. My OB/GYN on the other hand was shocked that I was on that type of medication and labeled me as a high-risk pregnancy. I had several sonograms to monitor my son's development. Everything was pretty normal except he was smaller than my other children 7lbs11oz vs. 8-9 lbs. I had to have an emergency C-section because my placenta abrupted. When I woke up from surgery I was screaming from intense pain. I guess because of my tolerance level or the subutex had blocked something. I screamed and begged for more pain meds and at first they said no way because I was already maxed out, but they ended up giving me more because they saw how bad I was. I was on a morphine drip for a few days and I breastfed my son right after birth. I stopped breatfeeding after a few weeks. As far as I could tell my son never exhibited any signs or symptoms of withdrawal. He was kinda scrawny, you know, not alot of baby fat on him until he got fattened up with breastmilk and formula. I gave him Enfamil Lipil because it has DHA in it and I felt like he needed all the help he could get. I, too, felt horrible for putting my son through anything like that. He is 2 years old now and he is showing signs of ADHD, extreme hyperactivity, low attention span, and he is way behind with his talking. He gets frustrated very easily, he has a bad temper, and he screams ALOT. But...on the other hand, he excels in some areas so I have to wonder and worry everyday if he would have been this way anyway or if me taking Subutex during my pregnancy caused these problems. Good luck and I hope all is well with you and your baby.
here is a little info on sub and pregancy
Suboxone and Pregnancy -- What You Need to Know
Abusing heroin or prescription painkillers while you are pregnant is very dangerous --both for your own health and for the health of the baby you are carrying. The best action you can take is to get into treatment and stop using drugs.
Unfortunately, medical researchers haven't done enough research yet to know for sure if Suboxone®is safe to use during pregnancy. Even though early tests do suggest that this medication is probably safe during pregnancy, there might be some rare, serious consequences for you or for your baby.
What happens if you are pregnant (or want to become pregnant) and want to start taking Suboxone?
Unfortunately, you should avoid using Suboxone if you are pregnant or want to become pregnant. In this situation, use Suboxone only if you can't reasonably choose a different treatment.
Drug-free treatments, naltrexone treatment, or "detox" are also good choices if you are just planning a pregnancy, but they are a bad idea if you are already pregnant --these treatments will force you to go into withdrawal, which could cause a miscarriage.
Your doctor can advise you about other treatments and help you choose one that it right for you.
What happens if you are already using Suboxone and want to get pregnant?
If you want to get pregnant, the safest thing to do is switch to another treatment that is safe to use during pregnancy -- methadone, naltrexone, or a drug-free treatment.
Let your doctor know in advance if you want to become pregnant so you can work together to plan your change in treatment. Also, use birth control to reduce the chance of having an unplanned pregnancy.
But what happens if you are taking Suboxone and get pregnant unexpectedly?
In this situation, you have 2 things to consider:
There is a small chance that Suboxone will hurt your child, but
If you switch from Suboxone to any other kind of treatment (except for Subutex® --see below), you will probably go into withdrawal --and withdrawal could cause a miscarriage.
Miscarriage from withdrawal is the greater of these 2risks. So, if you are already on Suboxone and you become pregnant, you should not switch to another treatment.
There is only one change you should make --your doctor will probably switch you from Suboxone to a drug called Subutex. Subutex has the same active ingredient as Suboxone and is used in the same way, but it doesn't have another ingredient (naloxone) which could be dangerous to take during pregnancy.
Remember to talk to your doctor if you wish to become pregnant or suspect you are pregnant at any time while taking Suboxone
I cant really answer your question but wanted to say hi and tell you that I think everything will be ok.. there are people here who know a lot more about pregnancies and pill addiction and will hopefully be around soon with some sound advice for you.. Best of luck to you and your family and take care.
