exactly my point, some of the give me the opposoite affect expecially if taken too much but the Unisom has a different ingredent in it called doxylamine Like I said PMS meds help but so does a very hot bath
just a heads up....tylenol pm, benadryl, diphenhydramine GIVES me restless leg. I believe a mild muscle relaxer, or a sleeping pill without the above helps.
Hi, I know RLS can be horrible. I just wanted to clarify something posted earlier, the drug diphenhydramine is the same as tylenol pm advil pm and the generic for benadryl. Benadryl just doesn't have the pain reliever in it. Now unisom is a drug called doxylamine and is not the same. The only reason I know is I do have a nursing background, BUT more importantly I get really restless on the doxylamine and can only take benadryl. Just in my experience, PMS meds have a little of a muscle relaxer in them and can help (just stay away from the ones with caffine..Prescription meds like klonopin and valium can help with it, if you are able to take those...hope everything goes good for you
thx everyone...I really appreciate the advice... :)
Diphenhydramine is the drug you're looking for. You can find it in Tylenol PM, Benedryl, Unisom and Sominex. The sleeping meds - Unisom and Sominex have the higher doses (if I'm not mistaken, it's double the dose of Benedryl - I also think it's cheaper to buy it in this form.) I'm certain you can find it in generic forms of these medications. The diphenhydramine apparently does a lot of good for RLS and of course, sleep.
Good luck
Hyland's Restful Legs actually works. It is homeopathic and you can get it in a drug store.
I had this horribly when coming off of oxycontin. The best advice I can give is to take some tylonol pm...and they have these otc restless leg tablets... I think they're more like a vita/herbal thing though... anyway, I'm sorry I can't tell you how long this lasts b/c I never finished getting clean but i'm working on it.
